“Convenient with a great breakfast”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The breakfast at this hotel was really lovely. The espresso was perfect and the pastries worth the calories. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My only comments are that the hotel is a little old and feels its age. Our room was comfortable enough but there were many flies in the room (we were able to open the window and entice them outside). The hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of the old city and near plenty of lovely restaurants.

We liked this hotel. The rooms are worn, but roomy with lots of character. We had a balcony looking onto an interesting street. The desk staff were helpful - didn't notice any eye rolling while we were facing them- and the breakfast is very good. The restaurant is in a separate area, it looks like a banquet room and is not enticing. The location is great and we had no trouble parking. We paid 113 euros including tax.

Hotel Savona is unique on Alba. They have so many stories inside. Pavarotti stay on this hotel when is alive and goes to Alba to tartufo occasion. I see him sometimes, always he stay on 4 floor, and all floor, Hotel Savona close for him and his family and staff. On Hotel Savona's bar, on saturday morning, it was normal on past you see Ferrero and Franco Miroglio together, take a breakfast. So, they are full of stories. Just go and ask, and see the very beautiful city of Alba. And smell the Ferrero Rocher manufacture on all city.

it is now the third time i went in this hotel
not that i like it, but it is ideally located in center of Alba and easily reachable by car.
The hotel is a bit old, the room are tiny, and we can see several worn things, but at the end if you just need to spend a night or two, it should work.
Last time I got a room facing the rear of the Hotel, and there was plenty of noise comming from some bar restaurants when they start cleaning around 1, 2 AM, and this was not good. This time I got a room facing the front, and the small park with the road, and I should say that it was better.

As many others have mentioned, the location of this hotel can't be beat. If you're driving into Alba, make sure to RESERVE a parking spot with the hotel. The lot is tiny.

While it bills itself as a 4*, it really should be billed as a 2.5*

Service: A previous poster mentioned eye rolling concierge. We had the same fellow. He was quite the character. Otherwise, the rest of the staff were pleasant.

Rooms: I think the Motel 8 has better rooms than the ones @ Savona. Everything is very worn down, and the bed was rock hard. Bathroom had mildew in stall.

Hotel: I guess you could claim that it's charming, but it's really just an old hotel in need of a facelift. Think pink table cloths and pink paint.

Price: If you are going during the truffle fair, prices will be more than the usual.

All in all, if you really wanted to stay within Alba for the truffle fair, and all other hotels are booked up, then this is all that's left, really.

Hotel Savona is in the best imaginable location, near a major piazza on the edge of the historic center. We stayed overnight during the Truffle Festival, when the square has a great market set up on Sundays, selling local cheeses, salamis and other cured meats, honey, preserves, and nougat, fresh pasta and produce, even a carousel! Alba is a charming town, with appealing shops and restaurants close to the hotel.
Although a bit old-fashioned, the hotel is comfortable, and service is good. There is limited secure parking in a courtyard, which needs to be reserved when booking. There is also a municipal lot nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms on West side would be quieter.

A bit dated but comfortable hotel. Our room was large and well decorated with a flat screen TV and mini bar. Shower was not very powerful but hot. We stayed on the third floor overlooking the park. There was a bit of road noise but nothing major.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location 3 minutes walk from station and minutes walk from the centre of town.
