“Lovely hotel, only thing missing is a pool or outside relaxing area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Came here as part of a group of about 20 people, rooms on the 6th floor were classed as a superior and met/exceeded our expectations. Evening meal and breakfast were all to a high standard. Only a very short walk into the old part of town which has many lovely bars and restaurants. Really a very nice hotel from which to base a touring holiday of this fabulous area. A pool would have been nice but in reality we have been too busy probably to use it. The wine yards and the Castillo Barolo are worth a visit.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 6th floor and had no problems at all.

Dear Guest,

There is a specific reason why we did not make a swimming pool. We have two types of guests: a business one, which would not have the time to use it; and a eno-gastronomic tourism one, which - as you told - would have not time... too. We have a little gym, and the neighborhoods of Hotel Calissano are good for walking and running!

After this, thank you for your so kind review! We do hope to see you again at Hotel Calissano.

Best regards
Santino Gerlotto

Came here for the weekend and really enjoyed our stay. As a family we love this region of Italy and the hotel did not let us down. Good breakfast, good service and a nice room were all the order of the day. Happy to reccomend this hotel to anyone

In Alba for friends wedding but this was a lovely hotel! Clean, modern fresh & very close to the main piazza & shops. Room & bed were very comfortable, as too was the shower. B/fast was included but as I can only eat GF foods there wasn't much of a choice but there were crackers, cakes, fruit & yogurt - all GF!
No gym nor swimming pool/ terrace. Car parking is available in the basement free.
Also have Internet, TV ( only BBC world news though) fridge, hair dryer, safe, but no iron only laundry service.
Beds very comfortable - great night sleep. The staff even helped book me an appointment at the local Karastase salon a 5 mins walk from the hotel. We found the staff to be totally helpful & kind.
Would we sty here again most definitely!

Room Tip: Our room overlooked a factory behind the disused rail line- not too bad if you not looking for a ro...

Good morning,
we are very proud of our gluten-free proposals: it's very important that everyone can feel comfortable here... though he is far from home!

We have a gym actually: it's quite little, but very well prepared with top level equipment; about the iron, we cannot lend it to the rooms because of the very strict Italian laws in matter of security, due to the wooden floor in all rooms. About the staff, we are happy you liked them: they are always available and happy to help you having a nice stay.

We really hope to have you as our guests again, when you will come back to Alba and the Langhe!

Kind regards
Santino Gerlotto

First of all, Alba is worth a visit of at least two nights (lovely old city center with a lot of good restaurants). And the perfect hotel to visit this city and its neighborhood is certainly this Calissano. It looks a bit cold and business-like from the outside, but inside the hotel feels very comfortable and the people are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are perfect (we had a superior, our friends had a suite - top on the topfloor).
Don't forget to take your aperitif in the hotel: delicious morsels will accompany your drinks.
Loved it and felt a bit like a wine-trader in its favorite hotel to meet the best wine producers from Barollo and Barbaresco.

Oh yes, perfect location, it's just 5 minutes by foot to the old city center and the major shopping street. And very quiet!

By the way, if you want to see the vineyards in a special and relaxed way, book a segway (www.albawaytours.com - Alba Hills), very recommendable experience. They have their office only 5 minutes away from the hotel.

Dear Guest,
thank you for your review. Letting the guests feel fine is our main goal, and we are so happy when we manage to do this!

As we always tell, we really think we owe much to Alba and the Langhe: working in a so nice place helps us to do a good job. We hope to see you again, maybe in our top season, which is from October to November for the wine picking and the truffle!

Kind regards

Very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Expected the usual modern 4 star
Italian hotel. Very nice room, immaculate, superb bathroom with excellent overhead shower.
Sky TV. 200 yards from city centre. Staff could not be more pleasant and helpful. Under £100 per night B & B.

Dear Mr. Alan,
we are happy your stay was good. It's great for us, when a guest hasn't checked out yet, and he already writes a so good review: we think this is possible only when he feels sure nothing can go wrong for the remaining days at Calissano!

We really hope to see you again,

Its design and style is another one of "contemporary business hotels" (with a little overdose of stainless/marble/glassy/shining gold looks) that you normally find in all European less urban areas. What makes it very special is:
1. the smile and frienly response of personnel
2. the top quality food you get at a respectable price
The rooms are very clean and very quiet regardless of the floor or orientation of your room.
The air conditioning was OK as it was extremely humid with 34C outside, with a sensitive temperature of more than 40C. Although, it was evident to me that fresh air intake for air changes in the room was not that efficient and at some time in the night I had to open the window to feel better.
The food was perfect! I had as a starter proschiutto con melone with a fillet of beef medium done. The wine was a red Barbera (old and rather strong) which left no "dark signs" next morning.
I have to underline again how friendly the personnel is in this place!

Room Tip: for a business hotel, excellent! I would think again to go there with my wife as we prefer to have m...

This hotel is (or at least looks) new and has good, modern rooms. The free underground parking is very convenient. The hotel is located 5 minutes away from Alba center, which can easily be reached by foot. Good value for money. I stayed here one night.
