We stayed here in October of 2011 for 2 nights and this hotelHAS incredible views of the greek ruins and excellent staff. We ate lunch here on 1 day the food was great but on the expensive side. Agrigento is a very beautiful ancient city and this hotel emphasized the buty with the fantastic views , the best in outr whole 11 day stay in Sicily. Highly reccomended.

We were fortunate enought to book a room on a "flash deal" which was roughly 40% off the usual rate plus we got upgraded to a room with a view of the temples. The view and the location really can't be beat if you have a car. You see nothing but greenery, the pool area and the temples as the city of Agrigento is behind you. The park was open until 7 PM when we visited so we were able to go there late afternoon and almost had it to ourselves which was magical and then a short walk back to the hotel.
The rooms are very comfortable and the staff very good. It is an easy walk to the entrance to the Valley of the Temples but you will have to drive to everything else. The restaurant is very expensive for Sicily and the food was good but not worth the price. The service at dinner was a little pushy and we felt rushed to make our selection. The historic centre of Agrigento is a short drive and is very charming with some good restaurants and shops. We took the bus from palermo and then rentde a car in Agrigento.

Bottom line: If you want a quiet, relaxing location away from the city with a lovely pool and incredible view of the ancient temples and don't mind driving to restaurants, this is the place for you (but try to get a deal!)

Room Tip: The main reason to stay here is to have a view of the temples (lit at night) so pay the extra. Othe...

This fancy hotel was just what we expected from reading the reviews. It was very elegant in a formal all-white kind of way. Service was correct, but not that friendly and you got the feeling they thought a lot of themselves and their hotel. The grounds were very pretty, although we came out of season and didn’t get a chance to really spend time there. The room had lots of nice amenities, but surprisingly, barely enough closet and drawer space. The view onto the temple from our room was spectacular. However, we were surprised to find that the shutters could not be secured so as to stay open for the view and when we reported this, what happened? They acknowledged that they knew about this and they were going to fix it. But, as it turned out, they meant in the future, not during our stay. Breakfast we found impressive looking, but lackluster compared to other places we’d stayed: there was a huge table of food, but mostly breads and sweets with some yogurt and cereal, nothing hot or particularly outstanding, just the usual hotel fare. The breakfast room which also doubles as their restaurant, was very designer, but not warm. Strangest of all was this awful ’50’s and 60‘s American pop music they played continually outside the hotel--not very Italian and not very classy. We were hungry when we arrived in the afternoon and while they have a bar & terrace with service, all they could come up with was a ham & cheese panini--no menu--and not too cheerful service at that. I could see things might be more convivial in season, but in March it was kind of deadly. Truly it was all worth it for the view and the easy walk to the temples themselves. Kind of puzzling how these people got a permit to build a hotel in an archeological park though, something a Sicilian pointed out to us earlier in our trip. We did not eat at the restaurant, which was very pricey and with an atmosphere we did not find appealing.

Room Tip: Get a good view of the temple; that's what you're paying for.

I agree with 223sarah. Normally I do not write bad reviews of places we have stayed: I talk to the staff about any beef I might have and usually it gets sorted. I have to make an exception for this place. We stayed here for two nights in late March 2012. The rooms are lovely, the views of the temples amazing. However, the place has a clinical air to it, it is expensive (see below) and the service was not what I'd expect from a 5* hotel. We stayed at the Villa Ducale after this and it was a far superior experience all round; we had a better stay than the Athena at the Domus Mariae in Siracusa for less than half the cost. My beef is the hassle we had over air-conditioning. When we arrived I asked about the air-con as the room was warm: 25 degrees celsius. I was told someone would be in touch. Eventually I phoned again and was told that it was possible to have warm or cold air blowing through the unit, but no air-con. I tried this and it did not work so I asked again. Eventually I was told that no temperature adjustment at all was possible, except by turning off the bathroom radiator (separate from the air-con). It was explained that there was a communal regulation that the hotel could not turn on the air-con until 15 April. We were offered a giant fan instead, which was ludicrous, and so we had to sweat through two nights as the temperature never fell below 24 degrees and the air was stagnant. This is quite unacceptable for a 5* hotel, the whole purpose of which is to insulate guests from the vagaries of local climate, bureaucracy, poverty, and so on. I made my displeasure clear, but all the good it did was a 12 euro reduction in our final food and drink bill. For information, 12 euro will get you a single side order of grilled vegetables in this establishment. We were glad to leave. Those who might think of going here should also be aware that the hotel claims that there are restrictions on heating as well as cooling during the winter. My advice is to ask in advance what level of heating/cooling to expect - or go somewhere else that understands customer service.

For a 5-star hotel, this one is quite average. Incredibly overpriced restaurant, staff minimally helpful. Room was fine but nothing special; great linens and good bathroom. Great views of the ruins. This place doesn't come close to comparing favorably to Villa Ducale in Taormina which was our stop before this one. But maybe there's nothing better in Agrigento??

This is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Our room was gorgeous and the entire hotel and its facilities were amazing. The view from the restaurant is unbelievable and it couldn't be more romantic. The standard of the food is also incredible and the service very good - but it was really quite expensive. We loved our stay here but we did find the hotel to be quite remote. Due to its location, this hotel really needs another restaurant and a little more choice.

This 5-star hotel is located in an absolutely prime location--it is a privilege to enjoy a view of the temples right from your balcony ... . We found the hotel design most attractive (although blending very nicely with the almost sacred environment), enjoyed an impeccably furnished room and our breakfast. Evening meals are more reasonable elsewhere in town.

Room Tip: Room prices are very high; we had a standard room with a small balcony that did afford a good view o...
