My wife and I were visiting the valley of the temples to see the ancient Greek ruins. It was only by accident that we ended up finding about this museum. Someone at the Visitor's Center in the town of Agrigento mentioned it to us. We decided to visit the museum and found it to be exceptional. It was an excellent addition to our visit itinerary. Definitely allow time for including a visit to this museum when visiting the area.

The museum shows a very large quantity of findings out of the archeological site Valle dei Templi. Calculate 2 hours for th visit. It gives you an impression how people lived 2500 year ago.

If you like ancient stuff...whatever it may be, you'll love the museum even though everything was in Italian (could have been translated). Loads of pottery, coins statues...which after the walk around the temples may be quite soothing in the cool museum. The bus to get back to Agrigento in on the way out, across the road and about 50m up the road (towards Agr)...it's just a little post with the sign of the bus company...it may well be hidden by the trees.

This museum did not disappoint. A must see if you are into archeology. It is well organized and has a fabulous collection. Do not miss the small building in the back and the view from the overlook.
