“More impressive than we imagined it would be.”

The site of the temples of Hercules, Concord and Juno is on a ridge which is set between a valley at the bottom of Agrigento and the sea to the south. It gives a great feeling of uplift, clear light and surveillance. The air was made clear and clean by breezes, and the majestic temples glowed deep gold red in the light.

As part of an organised tour we visited the Valley of the Temples. It is amazing to think that 2500 ago the Greeks were constructing buildings of this size and complexity.
The best way to view the Valley is to enter at the top gate and walk past each of the 3 main templles as you gently descend the valley.
It is worth noting that EU residents with proof of age are admitted free to all historical sites in Sicily once they reach the age of 65.

the place is absolutely stunning, really good facility to be seen with small babies and todlers. good wifi guide, nice staff, not sure about price as we were of monday, which appeared to be free day, you can find loads of nice small place to enjoy the view and to enjoy the history - couples, solo, families, and students

Exquisitely rebuilt from the original blocks this is an awe inspiring building - Oh! the sights this must have seen down the centuries. Stunningly proportioned it is quintessentially elegant. I feel lucky to have experienced this special place and building.
