One of the best preserved temples in Sicily. Give yourself at least 3 hours to thoroughly explore this gorgeous site. February was perfect. Temperatures were nice and trees and flowers were blooming early. Great for picture taking.

Great example of the greek temples built at the height of the Panhellenic Era in Sicily it well worth a visit. Beautiful setting with the Mediterranean in the background. A relatively easy walk once you get to the top and walk down.

We walked the entire area of the valley and temples so we could would not miss anything. It is so fascinating to see how people lived and built their cities. We were able to time our visit late in the day to get the sun setting reflections against the stone temples creating pink hues. It was beautiful. There is also a wonderful museum containing many ancient artifacts. If you go to Sicily you can not miss the Temples.

We ate a restaurant nearby with views over the temples and it was a beautiful sight to see the valley all lit up.

We got to the parking at the bottom of the valley , gate 5, and after looking at the layout of the tour we took the local taxi for 3 euros a person which took us to the top of the tour. The parking was another 3 euros. The entry fee is a well worth 10 euros per adult, kids below 18 don't pay.
As it was around 9 am on a Wednesday we were basically alone and enjoyed a glorious 2 hrs under the sun looking at the amazing rruins.we got to the bottom where we found our car. If you fancy a hike you can do the 2 km up and back again thus saving taxi money.

When you see these Greek and Roman temples that were build as far back as 5 centuries BC, you feel that you have gone back in time. You can easily imagine life in that era. The temples are built on a ridge overlooking the distant sea and many are well preserved and all have easy access. The area is well laid out in that you walk on a wide paved pedestrian pathway and the temples are a few steps from the path. Agrigento's Valley of the Temples is a visit we will not soon forget and a must for any complete visit to Sicily.
