“Walk through an ancient city”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

Amazing place with tons of history and ruins. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily as well as a national monument of Italy. The area was included in the UNESCO Heritage Site list in 1997. The term "valley" is a misnomer, the site being located on a ridge outside the town of Agrigento.

If its too hot you can take a taxi to the top for 6 euros and visit the whole site walking downhill, definately recommended because this site is extensive.

“Amazing insight to the past.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

The ruins were amazing. To think that they could be built without the heavy equipment and knowledge of today's world is truly a mystery. The grounds were very clean and a perfect photo opportunity.

“Valley of the Temples should not be missed on a trip to Sicily”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Valley of the temples is an important destination on a tour of Sicily. Most of all don't miss the Museum there. It is a treasure that provides the traveler with important context information about the site.
We bought a combined ticket and saw the museum in the morning. There was noon rain so we rested ate and went back in the afternoon to see the temples themselves. This made a perfect day for us because the site is large with much to see. I highly recommend breaking up the day.

“Old bones and old stones”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

However much Claudio talked up the attractions of this place, the hour long walk in the mid morning heat was a bit of a trial. The temples themselves have a certain dignity, and the necropolis made lovely resting places with great views over the lower plains down towards the sea. However, my old bones were groaning by the time we exited pass the home of the Yorkshire gentleman who restored much of this site in the 19th century, and shaped up to the Sengalese jewellery traders before embarking back onto the coach for a short visit to the unpreposessing Agrigento.
