Owner description: This region is one of the most important archeological sites in the world with many great temples such as Hera (Juno,) Lacinia, Concordia, Heracles (Hercules) and Olympian Zeus (Jupiter,) all dramatically perched along a long rocky scarp.

The valley of temples was indicated as the top tourist attraction in Sicily, however it was rather dissappointing. The ruins themselves are quite impressive and the park is very clean but it took under an hour to see everything in full detail. I believed it to be a larger area especially for the price of the ticket. Furthermore no map was given to us of e area yet others had a map, so make sure to ask for one if you want information.

Agrigento was a 3.5hr bus ride from Catania for me, so it was quite a long journey. Get the map and travel instructions from the nearby tourist office at their municipal office before going to the temples. Alternatively u can hire a "taxi" for 10euros 1 way but this is much more than the bus ride of 1.10 euros. Bring loads of water with u as the heat is getting unbearable in summer and wear proper shoes. The temple of concord was the most impressive, with its structure well preserved and intact. Loved taking pics with the reclining statue of a naked male angeI too! ;) also enjoyed the city view from where I was, soaking in the sights.

Beautiful hilltop setting, but rather crowded with tour groups as one might expect for an attraction of this significance. Be prepared for a long walk and take water with you in the heat of summer.

I was in awe , the temples are simply magnificent , the structures and the authenticity amazing !
You really need a guide to explain the history behind these treasures!

An amazing site surprisingly situated on a hill and not in valley. Ideally start with the Temple of Hera entrance, that way you will then be walking down hill past the other temples. An absolute must is the nearby archaeological museum with the gigantic Telamon mounted on the wall.
