“Nice hotel, would happily stay here again”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights with a group, and noticed quite a few other groups, but it didn't have a large groups feel to it. Ramp as well as steps at entrance, good for hauling luggage! Beautiful, well-maintained garden. Solo, but had double room which was fine, overlooking garden with distant view of Valley of Temples, no noise, and I appreciated the wooden floors. Bathroom perfectly clean and mildew-free! (Beds and pillows in Italy generally are harder than we are used to, though the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in was in Taormina)
No air-conditioning in early May, which seems general in Italy. and although the weather had just changed from cool rain, it was hot when we were there.
The pool was being cleaned and was in theory closed. Again a bit annoying because of the heat. You are supposed to have a swimming cap and flip-flops, obtainable at the pool bar (also closed at the time) but I think that is a health and safety requirement of municipalities in Italy, not of the hotel.
The bartender was delightful and attentive. Evening meals were good, though desserts were nothing special, with a choice between two dishes for each course.(Could be different if you're travelling independently) One night we had a very nice risotto with pancetta and pistachio (and very nice Sant'Agostino Chardonnay one night, Nero d'Avola the next. I recommend Sant'Agostino wines from previous tastings). I thought breakfasts were good even though the coffee machine was a bit temperamental. They had Earl Grey teabags. Hooray!! a good choice of breakfast foods, appreciated the sliced tomatoes with my scrambled egg, lovely light brown bread.
We walked into Agrigento town, and also the Valley of the Temples, though it's a bit of a slog uphill on the return journey.
Very useful large supermarket two minutes from the hotel, to the right, pharmacy in group of shops to the left.

The grounds are very nice, the rooms big and the breakfast a big buffet with lots of choices. But there were very hard beds, like sleeping on a board. I had to use my camping pad, that I fortunately had with me.

Stayed here 1 night with a tour group. Th grounds are lovely and obviously well maintained. They should pay as much attention to the maintenance of the rooms. Decor in the small dining room adjacent to the bar was tacky with plastic ivy stapled to the wall. There were piles of construction debris that had obviously been there for sometime, outside the windows in that area. As far as the rooms, we were in a room on the street side of the hotel and it was quite noisy. The room was too warm and the AC did not work, but the windows couldn't be left open due to the noise. Beds and pillows hard. Broken tiles with mildew growing on them in bathroom. Bright spot was lovely bartender who made excellent drinks and was quite charming, wish I could remember his name! In summary, you really don't want to stay here, I'm sure there are much better choices in Agrigento.

We had such an enjoyable stay here. We were greeted very warmly by Simona at reception. Nothing was too much of a problem for her. We were given two spacious and beautiful rooms overlooking the delights of Agrigento and the hotel's floral garden with pool. Each room had its own balcony so that after the long journey we could sip Campari sodas in comfort and refresh ourselves. From the hotel it is just a short trip down to the entrance to the Valle dei Templi in ancient Akragas - 3 exceptional 5thC BC Greek Temples - of Juno (Hera), Concordia and Ercole (Heracles). Sadly we left the following morning after an excellent and copious breakfast...and a fabulous smile from Simona.

Room Tip: Choose a room over the floral garden

Nice room, decent food, lovely service and beautiful grounds. Not far from the Valley of the Temples so we were able to a view a stupendous view at night even if it was raining. The highlight of our stay of course was visiting the Temples the next day on a gorgeous sunny day.

The hotel is very spacious, particularly the outside area near the pool...It is also very clean and located close to the Agrigento temples. The room was also really comfortable. Most of the staff were also very helpful.
