“Tired hotel-not 4 star”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

We were pleased when arriving at 11 pm to be told there was food ready for us. It was poor and set the tone for our three day stay. Large dollops of pasta and risotto followed by a dull main course, and a slice of cake is not 4 star hotel food. Every night salad arrived when we had finished. Breakfast was limited in scope and quality. The public rooms and bedrooms looked tired and the whole place could do with a makeover. There was no bar. The stairways were usually unlit at night. The shower was filthy and the connecting pipe had obviously not been cleaned for ages. The best part was the swimming pool which was large, clean, and looked good. Our group left hoping that the next hotel could only be better.

Room Tip: Away from the lifts.

I suppose that for 70 euros a night for two people one could not expect luxury, and so we were not surprised to find that the room was rather basic. Unfortunately there were a few annoying things like the air conditioning was simply making a noise but did not actually make the room any cooler and the shower was so small that anyone above size 12 would have a real problem getting in let alone being able to have a shower. They also advertise free wifi but the connection was so poor that we could not get onto the net not even when we were sitting near reception. On the positive side there is a nice pool and the hotel is strategically positioned within 10 minutes walking distance from the rail station, while the bus stop for the temples is just across the road from it. My advice would be to ask for a decent room even if it means paying a bit more, but avoid the breakfast at the hotel which is absolutely awful and overpriced at 7 euros, go to the Pasticceria which is just down the road from the hotel (turn right at the entrance, down the hill and you’ll find it about 100 yards on the right).

Room Tip: Don't go for the economy room

We were doing a tour of Sicily with Jules Verne and stayed one night. It was difficult to access the room. It had one of these electronic locks where you flash the card at it and it only worked intermittently. The air-conditioning was inadequate (stuck at 26 degrees) and the room safe was locked and unusable. There was no electric plug other than the shaver point to recharge my camera. The room was large but modestly furnished and that, plus the décor, suggested that it was in need of refurbishment. It was, however, clean and overall acceptable. The foyer, especially in the evening, was dull and needed updating. We arrived back at the hotel in a large party at 11.10 pm and at least six of us wanted a drink but the bar was closed - I thought that was appalling in a so-called 4 star hotel. Breakfast was modest and was taken in an uninspiring dining room resembling the rest of the hotel. The grounds and gardens of the hotel were beautiful and the swimming pool looked attractive. Early evening we had a drink next to the pool which was pleasant and we were served by an extremely pleasant and helpful barman. Overall we didn't have a bad stay but, in my opinion, the hotel is about Italian 3 star and should (and could) have been a lot better than it was

Scusi per l'inglese... Our stay was excellent, although too short. When we had to cancel the rest of our travel in Sicily because of the death of my wife's father, everybody at the desk tried (and succeeded) to help us cancel the other destinations. Swimming pool perfect, clean. Wellness center fantastic with spa, sauna, hammam, massages. Room giving view on the Valley of temples
The restaurant is good but you might choose not to eat every evening there since there are some excellent places for wonderful dinner in the city.

Room Tip: I recommend the Spritz at the pool's bar, but choose the bartender who knows it perfectly (the o...

The hotel was nice and clean. The pool area was beautifull. Location was great there is a nice beach close by only 10 minutes drive. staff were really friendly and helpful especially the receptionists Giusy and her other colleague we would like to thank them once again for their professional help. I would recommend it to everyone.

When you get past the "friendly like a prison door" welcome desk (that didn't even find our prepaid reservation and almost blamed us for it), you will find a nice pool and parc... The rooms are ok but beds and pillows are super hard. Don't eat at the pool: the food there sucks, but the evening restaurant is good with friendly multilingual staff, not like the wellcome desk...

Stayed for three nights as part of a Riviera tour. Definitely not 4*, apart from the gardens and pool area which are lovely and well deserve this rating. Our room was dingy and shabby and in need of renovation, as was the en suite. Reception staff were not welcoming or friendly. The lounge is dated. The food served at dinner tasted OK but was definitely not 'man sized' portions. You had to select what you wanted the day before.

That said, it was spotlessly clean. Our room was quiet and looked out over some lovely gardens at the rear. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen good quality.

If you want to get out of the hotel in the evening, there are a few local bars within a few minutes walk. Head out of the hotel, turn right, where the road forks bear left and you will soon come to the bars on the left hand side. They were basic, friendly, frequented by locals, and had much more atmosphere than the hotel.
