This family owned Albergo is well worth a visit. Mirella and her husband (the chef) have clearly built a reputation locally for running a good restaurant, but the property also has some 12 or so rooms, although I don’t know if all of them are en suite. Our room was high ceilinged and painted white, with 60s-style furniture and a small but adequate bathroom in one corner. Shuttered french windows opened onto a long balcony overlooking the private car park. Everything was very clean and towels were changed every other day – they dried very easily in the heat of early September. Mirella has some English and couldn’t be more helpful and charming. We only ate in their restaurant once, but it was a good experience. No menu, the waiter (Mario) just tells you what they have, usually 3 or 4 choices for each of three courses, plus dessert/cheese. Wine can be had by the bottle or house carafe. Unfortunately there is no lift, and we were on the second floor above street level, but someone helped us carry up our bags. Considering the enormous and expensive Hotel Terme is just around the corner, I would definitely recommend this as a cheaper alternative. We were charged 165 euros for 3 nights, plus 55 euros for dinner, including wine. A continental style breakfast, coffee and croissants, is included in the price.
