“Relaxing stay at the Mioni Pezzato”
Reviewed July 29, 2008

Stayed at the Mioni Pezzato last weekend. The hotel wasn't quite what I was expecting - our accommodation was booked via Acitvitybreak.com - which included the standard room option. The room was quite small and dark compared with the modern hallway. We then discovered the shutters and the room seemed much brighter and the floral wallpaper added a bit of character.

Some of the hotel is refurbished and the rest still retains some 1930's grandeur. The reception staff were efficient but sometimes quite abrupt. On arrival we were not informed that of the 5 welllness pools advertised - 2 were closed for maintenance, which was disappointing but the other pools were GREAT, with plenty of sun loungers. It would have been nice to do a proper Thermal Circuit but this wasn't available. The Tea Rose spa centre is definitely the main attraction and offers a comprehensive selection of treatments although some are quite expensive.

It's mid-season at the moment so it was nice to find the hotel not fully booked. Most of the other guests were either Italian, German or French. We found if staff didn't understand English, that we could still converse in German or French. There were hardly any other Brits there. Also most of the guests were middle-aged or older, some with families and a small handful of couples.

The breakfast buffet was ok - with a good selection available - mainly a continental breakfast choice but with some eggs and bacon available. We only stayed on a B&B basis and managed to find good pizzerias for dinner in the evenings.

There is an activity programme posted to the notice board, but ddin't see anything take place. When we did sign up for a 45min walk around Abano, we found out that the guide was actually on holiday and we weren't told. There is a tennis court available and also lots of bikes to hire.

Abano is pretty quiet and a good place for R&R. Shops are mainly closed during the siesta period 12-4pm and are usually closed on Sundays. My friend and I only stayed for 3 days but found the break quite chilled. Be warned that this isn't a location for anyone looking for big nights out. We liked the Mioni Pezzato and would go back again.

The Mioni Pezzato is a family run hotel and families are welcome which is not the case in every wellness hotel. The drawback of this is that at Easter e.g. lots of children are around and it is perhaps not the ideal place to rest from a stressful life.We stayed in a superior room(suite) and had a lovely view but building works are all around. The indoor pool is going to be renewed and is quite old fashioned. The outdoor pool is lovely. The dining room is very much 1930tees,not at all cosy,so we went around the corner to a small restaurant,l'Aubergine which was cheaper and more intimate. The staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. The wellness department is new and very pleasant.I would not go back(I prefer the Due Torri)but it is a perfectly adequate hotel.M Huët.

We just left the hotel yesterday (31 July 2006) and we definitely would have stayed for another month or more, if we had not booked already our next hotel in the south of Italy.
This hotel gives an excellent service and has all the facilities that you can ask for, with a very pleasant and helpful staff. The hotel is family owned and that is very much noticeable. One of the Mioni's even helped us out when one of the tyres of our rental car had a puncture. He contacted the local Mercedes garage and arranged the repair.
Our room was one of the best ever with great space and a lovely balcony and it must have been only finished recently as everything was very clean and new. A great shower and bath, with a fabulous bed and plenty of space.
The main pool is beautiful and because of that sometimes gets a bit crowded, but you can swim your way around the "floating" people that are enjoying the pool.
The food is excellent and a booking on a full board basis is recommended, as you can never eat any better and more than in the restaurant of this hotel, with a buffet as starters and desserts and 2 courses in between. One hundred laps in the pool or one of the special treatments are needed after that.
The town is "around the corner" and very clean and enjoyable, settled, with plenty of small shops that offer good value .

We will definitely be back again soon to enjoy the hotel and might even make an annual pilgrimage to relax and get back up to speed. There is no better way.
It is also very well located for a visit to Verona and Venice, as well as the lovely country side and villages around Abano Terme.

The only recommendation that we would have for the hotel is that a good airco system will be installed in the restaurant as it gets pretty warm, even during summer nights.

the rest is perfect!

We were back at this hotel in September 2005 for the third time and found it to be as good as usual . It was a great treat to have no smoking at all in the hotel as the bar area used to be really bad. It is worth poining out that if you travel here with Thomson's holidays you do not get even a visit from a rep . There are really no excursions with English speaking guides so you have to join the Germans and Italians and try to follow a bit in either language . This year there seemed to be no other English speaking guests in the hotel at the same time as us so be prepared for this. Adding lunch to make full board was still 3 euros a day which must be the bargain of the year .

We stayed last year in Abano Terme and loved it. This year we went back but to a different hotel(Mioni Pizzato)
This is just to say what a beautiful, relaxed 10 days we had staying in this hotel.
The main pool is fantastic, and a lovely setting.
The food was absolutely fantastic, superbly cooked, extremely tasty and lots of it.
The staff being courteous and helpful at all times.
We stayed in a junior suite, which was very spacious.
The facilities which include all sorts of body beautifying regimes,e.g. massage's of all descriptions, hair, nails, skin etc were very professionally applied. You can also enjoy the mud treatments for any number of muscle and bone injuries/sprains etc.
Its difficult to express our total enjoyment with this hotel, but hope this goes someway towards it?
Lest I forget its also great for long weekends, they will arrange taxi's from Venice(Marco Polo)to get you there,at little cost.
Anyway enough said.

Reviewed October 6, 2004

We visited this hotel in September 2004 for the second year running. It is not found in many brochures but we travelled with Thomson's Lakes and Mountains flying from Glasgow to Veronna. The transfer takes about one and a half hours but is by either a very comfortable mini bus or a Mercedes taxi because so few Brits go there.
Abano Terme is a thermal spa town close to Padua and Venice. The main tourists are the Italians themselves or Germans. Be prepared to be addressed in German as so few English speaking people seem to go there. Saying that with a smattering of Italian and German we enjoyed conversing with the locals. In the hotel itself they speak perfect English.
Coming to the hotel itself it is almost perfect as far as we are concered. There are antiques everywhere the whole place is on a spacious scale and is spotless but the cleaners are never obtrusive. The rooms are large and well furnished and there are lots of lifts .Only complaint is the smell of smoke in the bar area but none in the dining room . The pools are thermally heated and are kept at 90 degrees so it is like swimming in your bath. I swam one morning and steam was rising from the pool. The grounds are extensive so there is always a quiet place to read or sunbath. There is no shortage of beds to lie on either. no need to bag a bed at the crack of dawn . They also have an indoor pool
Many people take '' the cures '' so be prepared for guests in their dressing gowns sitting down to breakfast prior to a mud bath or one of countless cures you can have. There are also quite a few older people who are somewhat infirm so this is not for the young and trendy.
The food is very good , geared for the local palate and even better, for the princely sum of 3 euros a day you can have lunch as well. I arranged this by e-mail before we went as we took advantage of it last year. To put this into context if you just had lunch on a one off it was 37 euros . Cannot understand why they do it but it was wonderful.
There are few trips arranged by Thomsons in fact there were none by the time we were there (18th. September ) but you can take a bus to Padua or Venice or join the Italians and Germans on their very modestly priced excursions. Little attempt to translate into English got a bit waring so take a personal stereo and switch off altogether.
Abano is an old spa town and very pleasant to stroll around in the evening and listen to some music . Earlier in the year you could go to the opera in Verona .
The rep told us that they had doubled the number of British guests this year , 2003 being the fist year there, though Inghams have twice put it in their brochure then cancelled due to lack of numbers . Go now while the prices are still pretty reasonable and enjoy a lovely hotel and resort.
