“Perfect Cornish Getaway”

On the whole I always feel I'm quite reasonable but not overly generous with my reviews, so it's a rare occasion that I simply find somewhere I just cannot find fault with. So much so, I've actually hesitated for a while in posting this review based on the fact I don't want lots of people to find out about it ... like a crazed and jealous lover, I almost want to keep this just for me!

Cottage is a beautiful old fishermans place, brilliantly renovated to mix the classical features with modern comfort. Gorgeous features Such as ornate fireplace, period decor and old kitchen clever use of the original toilet cistern as an unused feature were noticeable. The owners though have gone that extra mile too, on arrival in the fridge were milk, bottle of wine and the elements for us to have a traditional Cornish cream tea inclusive of fresh fruit scones and clotted cream.

Bedrooms all comfortable with extra blankets available and new bathroom with rainfall shower head was divine.

Still, this alone isn't why this place is easily 5 stars for me. The place also came with board games for the kids, an array of dvds (we didn't use them but great idea!) and a guestbook with reviews going back of repeat customers cooing over the place. It's easy to see why!

The owners are who have made this absolute gem. Both were attentive and responsive to our emails in advance, calling me on the way down to check with us for arrival and also popping in to meet us as Carole hadn't been around in the afternoon. Just a lively touch, welcoming us to their home and it felt genuinely we were staying with a friend such is the atmosphere.

I can't fault this place at all and in all honesty we were all sorry when it was time to leave. I have no doubts we'll be back !!

Carole & Martin - please don't change this at all. You have a wonderful house and service. Well done

“Great choice for Charlestown”
Reviewed October 26, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We met Carole at this charming property which is just above the historic harbour and has views of St Austell Bay. The accommodation was very comfortable, kitchen well equipped (a lot say they are, but they aren't), double bedroom was clean and quiet (we didn't use the other twin room). Carole provided some basics and delicious Cornish clotted cream, jam and scones - much appreciated! Lovely courtyard sitting area at the rear of the property which catches the afternoon sun. Tesco is less than 5 mins away but there are plenty of choices around the harbour if you want to eat and drink out - we didn't as Carole's Cottage was too easy to stay in and relax....
