I could hear my dear old (and departed) Mum calling out as we arrived at this rather secluded location. "TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF!" It was the same every time she had a new carpet. As we settled for a cup of tea after our long journey, Mum piped again, "Don't put your cup on the table - use a coaster!" Well, she did have some highly polished and easily stained tables.
Before heading off to explore the local hostelry, I decided to shower and freshen up. Nice shower it was too - good flow and temperature. I luxuriated a while and listened for my Mum telling me not to take too long as it would rack up the electricity bill - and this would mean less pocket money!
The lodge is in a pleasant location and t very well equipped. I would recommend couples or families coming to stay for a 'get away from it all' break - albeit in reach of local attractions. We particularly enjoyed Ely and a picnic by the river in Godmanchester.
We stayed during a warm spell and the upstairs room/s were a little uncomfortable but there was a decent fan which helped if switched on before retiring.
Overall we all enjoyed our stay, but would recommend that the owner looks again at her literature as it does have a 'foreboding' edge to it. Also, it was pleasant to sit out on the veranda - but this is in need of at least a very thorough cleaning.
The location is excellent, especially for walkers and cyclists with the reservoir in walking distance. Close enough to Cambridge and Ely for days out. Very quiet site. The owner gave excellent directions and lots of additional information about the area. She contacted us with a courtesy call after we arrived which made us feel very welcome. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The cabin was well presented with all the essentials. It was in a lovely quiet setting. The inside was compact but clean and everything we needed was there. The kids had plenty of room outside to play.
An excellent base for exploring Grafham Water and the surrounding areas. The lodge was clean, warm, and comfortable with better than expected amenities.
Lovely location and very nice cabin fully furnished to a good standard. Relaxing break in a peaceful location. Zoe is only a call away if you need assistance.
I booked this cabin for a weekend away with four other friends for a hen weekend treat. The cabin exceeded our expectations and the owner has really taken on board any previous concerns and rectified them as we found all the amenities excellent. Lots of hot water for five women, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable living area.
We saw plenty of wildlife from sitting on the deck drinking G&Ts including a young deer and lots of bunnies! Plus, it was lovely say hello to people cycling, walking or running the path running alongside the cabins - albeit on the other side of a hedge.
We were warned about the parking and had no issues with it and found other residents very friendly. We also managed to get a local chinese takeaway to come and deliver to us in the middle of woods at nine o clock at night. We actually clapped when he arrived torch and food in hand!
Zoe was a great host from start to finish and furnished us with lots of useful information about the local area. Had great fun here with the girls but would definitely come back with my family as I think my son would love it.
