Tanza's Oasis Hotel and Resort
Ranked #2 of 4 Hotels in Tanza
Reviewed May 27, 2013

I have stayed at the Tanza Oasis five or six times in the past year, for between 3 and 5 nights each time; my experience has been consistent across all the stays. Each stay cost approx 3500php per night (standard room, no breakfast included). At this price the Tanza Oasis is great value (I'm from the UK). However, to set expectations, this is a budget hotel with a great swimming pool, thats about it. Here are some key points I've noted:

Check-in is always frustratingly slow, where even if no-one else is waiting it still takes 15 minutes. But top hotels I have stayed at in Manila have been similar so I assume it is a Philippine thing. Staff are polite and friendly but I wouldnt say helpful or knowlegeable.

The room is a good size and clean.. Air conditioning has been strong/cold apart from one stay but I dont keep it on all the time anyway, eg turn it off at night.

The room amenities always includes 2 x toothbrush and soap but other items like shampoo, conditioner, shaving kit seem to depend on the mood of the cleaning person! I always bring my own amenities so this is not a problem for me. The shower design means that the entire bathroom floor is usually flooded, so it is easy to use up the thin towels provided. The TV set is small and quite a distance from the bed, so do not plan any cozy TV night. There is an empty fridge. Water is supposed to be available via dispensers in the corridor but on all visits these have been empty throughout - so make sure to stop and get bottled water and other in room snacks/drinks before arriving at the hotel.

Wi-fi has worked intermittently over the various stays. Each time the staff tell me "Sorry Sir!" but thats all they can do. I suspect the problem is a capacity issue that means the network can only support a certain number of concurrent connections, rather than a technical problem per se.

The swimming pool is the standout feature of the hotel. It is large, safari themed, with a young kids area and older kids side with waterslides. If you have children in the 2yrs to 12yrs age they will love the pool.

There is also a 'private' beach with many Kubo (bamboo beach huts) which I think are for rent. The beach sand is raked clean each day but the water can look very dirty with garbage in it. People from the next door village are able to walk into the 'private' beach but do not cause any problem. Also, they happily swim in the water so it must be ok.

I have only tried the food in the restaurant a couple of times. There was a large selection of Philippine food and what I had was good but it was expensive in context of the room cost - say about 500php for breakfast for two. If you're adventurous, there is a new village cafe just outside the main entrance which serves beer/food much cheaper.

In summary, if you have a young family this is a great place for one or two nights. Bring your own drinks and snacks and maybe extra towels for the pool. You'll have a great time.

Our company booked the place for 3D/2N last December. The rooms are big enough for 3 people to fit in although the third person will be sleeping on a cot.

They have hot showers and cable tv. The pool is nice as well. They have a large function room for our big meetings and some break out rooms for smaller gatherings.

They also have a ballroom where we had our dinner/dance social in the evening. They even allowed us to conduct our team building games within their vicinity.

The only downside was that the beach was not very clean, but maybe because we went there during the off peak season that's why the water was kinda murky.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Stayed here overnight for a company outing/teambuilding. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that there were a lot of other large groups who were there ahead of us. And many more were still scheduled to come.

The place is really aiming to target large groups for conference/outing, etc... Their function rooms has complete amenities for large group conferences. However, the sound proofing of the function rooms is not that effective. We can hear the loud music coming from the next function rooms, wherein our speaker has had to pause many times due to the noise distraction.

The food is great. It tastes good, but the serving is a little small. It could be because the servers were trying to save food for it to reach the last person in line. I'm not sure. However, coffee is overflowing. Purified water is everywhere. Even at the hallways going to the rooms.

We stayed at a deluxe room, which is great for a group of 4 pax, with 2 large double beds. They have an LCD TV screen with cable, a couch overlooking the view (which is really relaxing if coming from busy Manila). Their bathroom is spacious enough, with a bathtub, hairdryer, toiletries, etc... They also have free coffee inside the room.

Their jungle themed swimming pool has 2 slides - one for kids, another for adults. The bridge divides the pool from the deep and shallow one but its actually just a single big pool. The design of the pool, with plants on the sides for cooler shades, makes you want to take a dip instantly. Specially if you see their beach. It is not so clean, dark dirty sand and the water is full of jellyfish (or maybe only during that time when we visited). They also have a basketball and volleyball court. For day trippers using the beach, they have native cottages in beachfront.

If you come here to relax and get a peace of silence, I would not recommend this resort. Its really busy and buzzing with people due to a lot of large groups. But this is really highly recommended if you come here with friends, work colleagues, etc...

Room Tip: Get one on the 2nd floor, since they do not have elevator. You have to climb all the way. Room facin...

My family and a family friend's family went to Tanza Oasis for an overnight stay on July 2012. My mom if im not mistaken stayed called a week or two prior to our stay to have our rooms reserved. My family got here early around 10 am since im working for a night shift i just followed them from Alabang i was with my bf. Got here at around 2-3PM and guess what they are still not in the room since the rooms that we reserved is occupiep. The hotel was really busy when we got there so many visitors is complaining since almost all their rooms are booked. *Btw standard check in time was 1PM and check out is at 12NN* when our name got called around 4PM they told us that our rooms are ready. When we got up one of our room is ready and clean already but the other room that we got is NOT! I think that the previous guest that stayed there just left since no housekeeping cleaned it! Its a total mess! So we called the front desk and complained while the housekeeping is cleaning the other room we stayed in the other room first and it took them almost 1 hour to clean the other room.

Good thing about the hotel is the rooms is spacious and it has a nice pool. Buffet breakfast that they serve is good as well and the resort/hotel has many activity for their guest.

This is the second time i've been in this hotel/resort. Although i did have a good time on both of the visit(well, more on the first actually), i just want to share some pros, as well as the cons this time,so here goes...
Pros:
1. proximity to Manila via cavitex.. it only took us an hour and a half drive and that includes the traffic already
2. amazing view with jungle themed pool
3. lots of fun things to do...like billiards, basketball and volleyball court and my favorite, a not so complicated obstacle course
4. huge room with an equally amazing view of the resort (for the deluxe that is..superior room offers a great view of the wall..('',)..and that is what you're actually paying extra for)
5. except for the front office staff during check in (reasons for this on the cons), we pretty much received an excellent customer service from the Sagobe Cafe staff, guards, housekeeping and the Manager
6. ample parking space
7. there's a live band playing at a given time in the afternoon and at night (but i think its only during weekends)

Cons:
1. my number one concern is that the front desk staff present during our check in last april 6 was so inefficient (too bad i wasn't able to get her name!) they aren't snappy enough and they cannot answer important queries like the actual check in time (supposed to be checked in at 2pm but only allowed by 2:30pm without even a sorry or without even being empathetic.)
2. complimentary iced cold tea (actually not included as perks) was served to selected customers waiting to be checked in...they gave one to the couple besides us (also impatiently waiting to be checked in) but totally ignored us..adding more insult to the injury!
3. the beach water is not for swimming...the water is too dark and murky
4. the pool is not exclusive to hotel guest. it is available to day tour goers at a very minimal fee. if you pay for the swimming pass, you get to enjoy both the beach(again, dark and murky) and the pool. thus, those who swam on the beach can access the pool ANYTIME. beach-pool, beach-pool...imagine that...
5. the room rate does not include breakfast. for P4,400 weekend rate they could have included it (some hotel/resort with the same rate already includes breakfast) but NO, the money is purely for room and amenities only.

okay, that's 7pros over 5cons. if you ask me, YES, i'd still recommend this hotel..but i'd probably stay during off peak (like we did the first time) as it really gets crazy during summer...and yeah it wouldn't hurt if they train their front desk attendant like they train their other staff..i mean hey! they are your front liners right?

Room Tip: the only difference between superior and deluxe room is the view

My family and I went here last February 2013 for an overnight stay. Accessible and easy to find with ample secured parking space. The overall look of the resort is good and is quite new. Dinner was a bit pricey but good, but the breakfast buffet left much to be desired. The waiter who served us (couldn't remember the name, but he's in one of our pictures) was very accommodating and patient.

Liquor is a bit expensive too and there are corkage fees should you bring any.

The rooms, well, it was great. Good airconditioning (the colder, the better for me.) with comfortable beds and bath area that came with standard kits and towels.

The beach is not really conducive for swimming, and the beach huts for rent is just seem too expensive for what we are getting.

The pool is another thing. Very wide with different sections for kids and adults. There are three slides, two of them were working when we were there, just adds to the fun.

Overall, it was a good experience. It would be better if the rates and prices be a bit lower as I feel that we should have gotten more with what we paid for.

Room is big for a superior type; bed is comfortable; TV set is not flat screen; bathroom is big (divided into shower and toilet); free toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, shave, coffee, milo; there is hair dryer, bathrobes, towels.

The themed pool is very nice but there is no heater so it is very colde when swimming at night. There are slides.

Food at the restaurant is great! Very delicious.

the beach is not yet developed so we did not bathe there.

there are sports areas like basketball, volleyball, badminton.

No elevators, you need to use the stairs to go up.

The lobby is very spacious.
