“Warm welcome, good food but overpriced”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We received a warm welcome from the lady owner, and shown to a large room overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was decorated & furnished in old French style & had a large (comfortable) double bed & a single. The bathroom was big, with plenty of towels & 2 bathrobes. We had dinner in the restaurant & opted for just 2 courses. The menu has several set price options, with plenty of choice. The food was good, nicely presented & served by the owner who was very chatty. We managed to communicate well in a mixture of her limited English & our limited French! Breakfast was very good, with plentiful breads, croissants & beautiful home made fruit compotes & jams. We felt that our stay was overpriced - 199 euros for the two of us for room, 2 course dinner, 1 bottle of wine ( at 22 euros) & breakfast. However, we have been here before and would possibly stay again if in the area. We found both Mr & Mrs Bellier (owners) were attentive & friendly.

We stayed in this hotel 2 weeks apart for one night, as a half way stop there and back. The first time, a lady checked us in and was pleasant enough. We agreed to have dinner in the hotel, but were presented with a very complicated menu at unbelievable prices. So on check out we told them we wouldn't be needing a reservation in the restaurant on our return visit. When we did return and tried to check in, the male (presumably the proprietor as no other staff were ever visible) totally ignored us as he was setting up for breakfast. We were left to wait for ages, highly visible to him, when my husband eventually asked if we could check in. The proprietor threw down cutlery in his hand, barged through us and literally threw a key at us. He asked us if we wanted breakfast and when we declined he stormed off mumbling something under his breath. It is very hard even to write down just how rude this man was. If it hadn't been so late we would have walked out there and then, but we stayed the night - and I have to say, in their lovely family room, nicely furnished, very comfortable with full ensuite facilities. My sister and her family stayed too, and settled the bill for us as we left earlier. The proprietor said not one word to her as she paid and left. Didn't even look her in the eye.
This hotel is nicely furnished, the old fashioned French way and apart from the incredibly annoying squeaky floorboards is pleasant enough. However, I have never ever been treated in any hotel, the way this man treated us on our arrival and departure and it is a wonder how they are still in business. Would not recommend to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
