“Tour guide "Rabbit" gave us THE BEST TOUR WE HAVE EVER HAD!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Let me start off by saying my now wife and I travel quite a bit and one of our favorite outdoor activities is kayaking. Not knowing what to expect when booking with Aloha Kayak Co. on the big island we gave it a shot as the price was reasonable. Boy were we in for a treat. We met one the kindest and accommodating tour guides we've ever had on any excursion be it kayaking or not and his name is Rabbit. Rabbit really made this trip special for us giving us background information on where we traveled to via kayak, adjusted the kayaking to our level of fitness, showed us sea creatures we would have never seen on our own, brought us a fresh coconut to drink from along with snacks, and was a great person to converse with. Rabbit truly lived the "Aloha"spirit and would ABSOLUTELY return to Aloha Kayak only to request him. Thank you for making a great trip exceptional Rabbit!!!

Love your friends,
Jonathan and Lindsey

“First time kayaking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Two sets of couples and none of us had every kayaked. The two guys were excellent swimmers while both of us girls (sisters) were not. We kayaked out and around, went into a sea cave, saw cliff jumping (none of us would attempt that), and went snorkeling. Our guide was great, he had a lot of friends we ran across while on this trip. One of his friends was spear fishing and had gotten a parrot fish which he proudly showed us plus he went down and brought us up a conche shell and showed us from the ocean floor. The only thing I will warn about is when you go to snorkel you do not dock on land and swim out to snorkel but your kayaks are tied together and you flop off into the water with a life vest on but keep in mind you have to get back into the kayak when finished and this can be very difficult if you do not have a lot of upper body strength. This was the only downfall I found about this trip but at the time it was the only trip option available due to the closing of the Captain Cook monument trip. We did see whales on this trip as well as had dolphins swim next to us and under our kayaks which was more than worth the money paid for this trip. Also, don't forget to put sun screen on and we went on the morning trip and got burnt.

“Good day out”

We highly recommend Aloha Kayak, we were keen to see the Captain Cook monument, kayaking seemed to be the way to go, we chose the 6 hour trip. As complete beginners we felt well looked after, we were helped at every point and felt safe in their hands. We were well equipped with safety gear, masks, flippers etc for snorkelling. The kayaking was easily do-able, the snorkelling was amazing, our history lesson was thorough, we liked their awareness of the potential environmental impact/damage kayaks can do, we had a good lunch and we were treated with spinner dolphins leaping as a bonus. Very well organised.

“Kayaking with Aloha”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

we were a group of 6 ranging in age from 8 to 80 and it was a wonderful experience for us all. John and "Rabbit" were great sources of local history and interesting stories. And maybe most important of all they were very aware of human impact on a sensitive area. The kayaking to the Captain Cook monument and the snorkelling there was fun for everyone. Highlight of our trip to the Big Island and very reasonably priced. Thanks from Erika and crew

“Great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

3 adults and two children (ages 10 & 12) booked the 3.5 hour tour of Kealakekua Bay and the Capt Cook monument which involved kayaking, dolphin viewing, and snorkeling. Our guide (John) was very knowledgeable and we had confidence in him with regards to our safety. He even paid a little extra attention to one of our group members who was having a bit of a rough time with the kayaking (sea sick due to the motion).
We were given our historical information mixed in with local folklore, which made things much more interesting! We also had excellent dolphin viewing very close to our kayaks, which was very exciting. The snorkeling was wonderful and John helped us identify the fish we were seeing. Our 3.5 hour tour ended up being about 5 hours, not sure if this is the usual, but we're not complaining!
The water was rougher on the way back but John went out of his way to make sure that our entire group was off-loaded safely back on to the wharf area (again, giving the sea-sick Mom a chance to get out first... much appreciated, thanks John!).
