“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed July 19, 2009

Good hotel away from main road. Quiet with nice garden and pool area to relax. Rooms pleasant and clean with lovely views although noise from other rooms travelled easily. Andorra easy to get around with some lovely villages and walks but would recommend staying away from Andorra la Vella which is just a duty free shopping centre with nothing else to recommend itself.
We stayed bed and breakfast as we like to go out for dinner in the evening to different places but found the choice of local restaurants to be limited, mostly based in other hotels. We ended up having dinner at the hotel on three evenings and this proved to be quite expensive. The food was reasonable but not always served in great quantities and came to the table very quickly.
I would also check the room rate direct with the hotel if possible. We booked with last minute.com and by mistake we were given a bill for our stay as we were leaving which was cheaper than the rate we had paid on line.

We stayed two nights during summer, for a short break in Andorra. The hotel is set up high, above La Massana. Our room was on the third floor, and had a balcony overlooking the valley and the mountains in the distance. It was quiet, comfortable and an enjoyable place to stay.

The breakfast included in our stay was also of high quality, as was the dinner we had on one evening of our stay.

Our stay at this hotel was great, the presentation is perfect, it was a romantic setting with large comfortable rooms with a mini bar, huge bed!!! and everything you need. The two things we did realise very soon is that you can hear people next door very clear because the walls are thin, we thought it was funny hearing some conversations but its not so nice hearing people go to the toilet.... The second was this terrible smell in the bathroom, we asked for the floor to be cleaned twice which they did asap and the smell would go for a while, we think it may have been a toilet leak or lack of ventitation. This didn't put us off the hotel though and we enjoyed every bit of our stay!!!

We both thought the quality of food was very high with good presentation and fast service. We love to try new foods so it was a real experience. Its not the best choice if you dont eat fish or meat because those are the options daily but luckily i eat fish and it was fab each night.

The location of the hotel is good if you have a car because its about 10 minutes to town and 15 minutes to slopes by car. There wasn't much snow on some slopes when we went but we snowboarded for about 6 hours each day on a good selection of blue's and red's. There are a few restaurants about, its basic food but keeps you going. The people seemed friendly and service was fast.

There are fantastic shops in Andorra city, loads of ski and board shops with really good deals so well worth a visit!!

We would recommend anyone to stay here because we really enjoyed it.

After reading the previous review I did not have great expectations. I booked 2 rooms, one for my parents and one for us! We got the best deal as my parents were on the top floor, under the eaves! A bathroom light was broken which they tried to fix but couldn't. I requested a new room for them but as the hotel was full this wasn't possible. Our room was lovely and big. My daughter was delighted with the little playground at the side. We decided not to have breakfast in the hotel which was a big mistake because it looked lovely - instead we went into town and got ripped off in the Palace Hotel! I would recommend this hotel based on the price of €60 a room. Staff not over friendly but helpful enough!

We don't know where to start with this hotel experience as it was so awful and so much wrong with this hotel complex!!

On arrival we were checked into our executive suite apartment. The suite was unispired and was like a very low quality, motorway hotel chain. As there is no aircon in this hotel, the room was hot and stuffy, so naturally we opened all the windows to encourage air flow.... only to find that we were based on a very noisy, busy road, and the noise was unbearable! In addition, we had been positioned above the suite complex car park!

We asked to be moved, but were given an option that was no better. I decided to check with the hotel on the site to see if there was a solution (although the reception staff at the suites did not suggest this option). I was pleased that the hotel reception staff was very helpful. He offered to show me a room and said it would be no problem to transfer our reservation from the apartment to the hotel asap. I saw the room and loved it! It was a pretty room, with character and a terrace and much quieter as is set away from the road. A relief we thought!

We then went to dinner in the hotel restaurant... and it was disgusting. They sat us in at a table, with food all over the floor, and potatoe crushed into the seat beside me!

The food arrived and was disgusting!! The dish had an taste I can only describe as hand soap, so I left almost all of my dinner. Ironic really! The plates and cups where chipped and the cuttlery had dried in food!! It was an expensive meal for quality was substandard.

On arrival at our new room, I was horrified to see that the toilet was dirty!!!! This is awful! We then decided to have a drink in the room, but the glasses were also dirty!! A theme that was consistant in this hotel!

The noise from a neigbouring party boomed until the early hours, and a resident called the police! When the noise stopped, and we just about fell to sleep, we were then woken by the noise of a very noisy wedding party leaving the hotel. I think the hotel staff should have asked them to keep the noise down, but they didn't!

Breakfast the next morning was no better, the plates, again were chipped and guesse what?? Yes, the cups were dirty. I approached the waiter about the dirt on the cups and he shrugged and looked at me like I was expecting silver service! The coffee was cold and the breakfast poor!

Apart from the gent on night reception at the hotel, who was brilliant and very helpful, the staff were not good. The waiting staff were a little aggressive and the day receptionist was ill-informed and gave us some incorrect information.

On the plus side, the hotel area was lovely, and the hotel has lovely views.

To summaries, we could not wait to leave this hotel! It was disgustingly dirty and the staff where poor quality. Our advise, stay well clear!!

This is a really nice hotel, fantastic rooms and in a great location (if you dont mind the tunnel blasting). It was let down by the quality of the food in the restaurant which promised much but was a let down and very let down by the staff who seemed as though all of them were having a bad day that day.

We just returned from a week stay at the Abba Xalet hotel.
We had a room not a suite but the rooms are large enough for 2 persons, the bathroom is huge.
Breakfast was good with a large selection. We had half board and dinner was fine. The menu changes every day and you have the choice out of 3 plates for appetiser and main course + a selection of desserts. Or you can order "à la carte". They have a special kids menu. Prices for a bottle of wine are very decent (from 11 €).

Not all restaurant staff speak different languages which might be a small disadvantage but they are very friendly , spanish/catalan is "official" language at the hotel.

The hotel has a family atmospfere and we reommend it strongly.
If we go back to Andorra we will definetely return to this hotel.
