“Definitely recommend this place, great stay!”
Reviewed August 31, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We just got back from our trip to Paris and with 2 young children (5 and 2.5) we wanted a place with a kitchen. Devolu was comparable in price to a nice hotel with a kitchen but much more fun and neat. How cool t o stay on a boat in Paris!
We loved the decor and space. We ate breakfast and lunch everyday on the terrace to watch the boats and ducks go by and we also utilized the great kitchen.
The kids loved the chalkboard wall as well as the selection of DVDs and SkyTV!
We drove in and the free parking was another big benefit and it was a quick drive into the city center. We did take the train one day for fun and this proved to be a quick walk and an easy task from the boat with Rupert's great instructions he provided.
The boat is just nice and comfy with every amenity possible and Rupert is great at communicating as well. I would definitely recommend Devolu to anyone.

“Charming, spacious and comfortable accomodation in quiet yet accessible location for Central Paris”
Reviewed August 27, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on board Devolu which was a welcome oasis of quiet and calm after a full day's sightseeing in central Paris. The accomodation is generous and well equipped with the Apple/satellite TV particularly being a hit with our teenage children (nothing like practising one's French there then!). Travel to central Paris was easy by tram/train taking at most 30 minutes with a variety of routes available depending on which sight was being sought. We were able to leave our car safely by the boat all week (other than to travel the 6 miles to visit Versailles) and the boat mooring itself is straightforward to find off the Periphique du Sud with excellent directions (and advice generally) given by the owner. There is also a large shopping centre one mile up the road with ample free parking. Would we stay there again - an absolute yes from all 4 of us !

“Perfect base to visit Paris with young teenagers”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We would recommend Devolu as excellent accommodation in Paris to anyone, particularly with children. Our grandchildren, aged 13 and 11, loved their cabins and the whole idea of living on a boat. It was so much nicer than a stuffy apartment in a hot street in Paris!

The boat was even more stylish, spacious and comfortable than the photos had implied! It was a perfect base and the tram was a brilliant way to get about, quick, frequent and efficient, with a multitude of ways of allowing us to access the centre of Paris. We really used our Paris Visite tickets, and covered most of the Metro and RER network as well as the superb T2, which stopped just 200m away.

The first thing we did, after completing our “big shop” at Auchan, one stop away on the tram, was open a bottle of champagne and sit on the back deck with nibbles enjoying the tranquillity of being away from the noisy Parisian streets. We then popped some onions and steaks on the Plancha and ate them with salad and crusty bread. Perfect!

It was all so comfortable and the copious instructions covered everything we might need to know and plenty we did not need to know as well, thank goodness. The whole boat behaved impeccably during our stay and the kitchen was really well equipped. It was a great few days!

Liked best: The peace and beauty of being on the river, away from the noise of central Paris
Liked least: The slightly run down neighbourhood, which seems to be undergoing extensive refurbishment, so should improve. A baker nearer would have been nicer.

“What better way to enjoy Paris than from a 4 bedroom barge???”
Reviewed August 5, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Young and old, we all LOVED this barge. Moored on the Seine in Meudon, the T1 tram was a few steps away and easy connection to RER into Paris. I was concerned when we booked that it would be a problem to have to commute into Paris each day but it turned out to be a huge advantage--it was about 15 minutes to the center of town and the commute was actually a lot of fun. We got to meet people outside the tourist industry and get a better feel for the area. We loved the serenity of the barge after the frenetic pace of the city.
The barge itself is decorated beautifully-super modern and updated with some facinating and funky touches like a clock built right into one of the barge windows.
Boat was spotlessly clean and with six people it was nice to have so much space-nice view of the occasional boat rolling by inside and on the deck with a lovely table. Huge modern kitchen (ok we never used it--after all this is Paris!!!), a fun chalkboard wall to leave sassy messages for each other, and all the technology our 20 somethings in the group could ever want.
Also should note that the owner, Rupert, is great to communicate with and sent us all kinds of instructions before we arrived so that we knew exactly how to get there and get around the area, before arrival.

“Unique Parisian Experience with Lots to Watch”

The Devolu is an ideal vacation rental for a family wanting to enjoy Paris yet have spacious, tranquil and interesting accomodations. As retired Californians, we spent a week there with a German family of four, including 2 teens. The barge is extremely well-equipped, the setting was perfect, river on one side, bike path and park on the other. The furnishings are contemporary and often humorous. The kids loved drawing on the chalkboard wall. The kitchen has everything one might need, and the teak table on deck provided lovely outdoor dining, in addition to the formal dining room. Barges, boats, kayaks, sculls passed by all day, but the river traffic ended about dusk, allowing for peaceful evenings. We were visited by ducks and fish, and even a family of swans who curiously poked their heads into an open window. While it takes about 30 minutes to get into the tourist sites, the location is well worth it. A tram 3 blocks away connects to the Metro. Free parking right at the boat. Lots of local shopping and restaurants, though we usually ate breakfast and dinner aboard, enjoying the entertainment on the Seine and sunset from the deck. We highly recommend the barge for a family or group of friends wanting to enjoy Paris and the surrounding area.
