Owner description: The garden of Les Martels is a floral garden of 35.000m2, situated 30km North of Toulouse (in Giroussens, in the Tarn). This garden ranks among the most beautiful French gardens. There, you will find gardens of all types, an exotic and aquatic glasshouse, a panoramic viewpoint, a banana plantation and a mini farm, the whole area sheltering more than 2500 different varieties of plants. This garden has been conceived for everyone’s pleasure.

Even though we live about an hour's drive away from the gardens, we try to visit several times a year - although the lotus flowers in June/July are probably the highlight, the autumn colours and the spring flowers are also well worth seeing, and it's good to track the progress of the planting over the years.

well hidden, cute to get there with a narrow gauge little railway, a revelation for the variety and scope, in an area where one can get sunflower saturated.....good parking

If you are on holidays in or around Toulouse, do not hesitate to spend the afternoon in the wonderful "Jardins des Martels". Get a map of the gardens to help you around as it is quite big and you do not want to miss anything. Don't forget your camera! There is also a little touristique train on rail managed by passionate volunteers. The train is either steam (week-end in summer) or diesel. and takes about 1 hour from the station Saint Lieux les Lavaur to the terminus, the Parc Floral. The train starts at 2.30 pm. Make sure you are there at that time as the last train is at 5.30 pm and the gardens are so beautiful, you will want to stay there the maximum time possible.
Have a nice trip!

We visited in the early summer. The gardens are like an oasis. There is running water nearly everywhere and of course beautiful plans to admire. The animals are fun for the children. We then took the steam railway back to Saint Lieux les Lavaur. Great day trip.
