We were only able to stay one night, but this hotel was amazing! It has a private beach and two of the three times we went to the beach, we had it all to ourselves. We had an executive suite room which was huge and had a beautiful view from the balcony. The room amenities were superb and the free water, soda and juice in the mini bar was a nice touch since it was quite hot outside. The food at both the beachfront café (lunch) and the buffet restaurant (dinner and breakfast) was excellent with a large variety of options. The grounds of the hotel are immaculate and all of the services are all within a short walk of each other (watersports, tennis courts, fitness center). The hotel offers a shuttle into town at least once per day which was helpful as the hotel is about 15 minutes from the center of Muscat (and taxis are somewhat expensive). Overall, one of the best (if not the best) hotels I've ever stayed at.

We stayed at the Al Bustan for 3 nights and were very impressed by the staff and the design from the moment we arrived. We came in on an early flight and were offered a room immediately although we were quite prepared to leave our bags and check in later. As it happened the room we were given wasn't entirely what we wanted, but we were moved quickly. Our second room was perfect.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. We didn't try the beachfront restaurant and from what other guests have said, we clearly should have. However the evening Indian buffet was not good, lacking both spice and variety (much better to stick with the Mumtaz Mahal near the ROH) and China Moon was really very disappointing in a not-bad-for-a-take-away way.
On our last day some VIP checked in. The level of security at the hotel became intrusive - metal detectors at the main entrance and large armed guards hanging around exits. But the real disadvantage to having a VIP staying at a hotel which only has one road in and out, became clear when that road was closed. We were on our way back to the hotel after a great trip to Nizwa, to pick up our bags and get back out to the airport. (What we should have done was take our bags to Nizwa and gone directly to the airport.) We were stuck on the road out to the hotel for nearly two hours and it was only because of a seriously manic taxi driver that we reached the check in desk 1 minute before they closed it.
Although the end of our stay might not have been exactly relaxing, the staff at the Al Bustan took great care of us and it is they, the amazing lobby and the hotel's setting that justify a 'Very Good' rating.

This place is paradise!!! There is absolutely nothing whatsoever that can be said which is bad about this hotel. The service is second to none. Within one minute of requesting dry cleaning, a member of the housekeeping team was knocking on the door. The rooms and not as big as the Grand Hyatt but the quality is far superior. If you like bigger bathrooms thenmaybe this is not for you but I think the quality of everything else totally outweighs size. Breakfast selection covers every possibility and you can chose to sit inside or out. The views are magnificent. This is not the Sultan's favourite hotel for nothing. This hotel is a little further out of the way for business and exploring Muscat, but it is well worth it and it would certainly always be my favourite hotel of choice in Muscat. This hotel enjoys its own beatuifully brushed beach and magnificent gardens too.

Room Tip: If possible ask for a seaview, the rooms ar the same quality but the view over the gardens to the sea is great.

I stayed at Al Bustan only for 3 nights and every day just kept getting better and better. The rooms are very comfortable and I got some great sleep. The food however was out of this world. I think the breakfast buffet is the best I've had and the seafood buffet at night was out of this world. The gym is very modern and clean. The beach is nice and the water was great to swim in. It truly is an oasis and I would come back for vacation

My husband & I stayed in a suite for 4 nights recently and had the most amazing & relaxing time.

The hotel itself is stunning and very well maintained. Upon check in, the lady asked what our plans were and why we chose the hotel to stay. We mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and later that evening we came back to our room to find strawberries in a chocolate box with a signed card from many staff members congratulating us......a very nice & personal touch.

We were upgraded to a suite for half the cost, the room was very spacious with 2 huge walk in cupbairds and a big deep bath. It was very clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable with plenty of pillows.

The staff around the hotel, from reception to the restaurants and the pool / bar staff were so friendly and eager to please. Remembering our names and what our usual drink orders were, also a very nice personal touch.

The best part of our stay was relaxing in the sun chairs having cocktails brought to us.........once you arrive at the deck chairs a pool attendant promptly arrives with towels and an esky with water and water mist spray. The staff in this area were exceptional!

Buffet breakfast was great and the chineese restaurant was FANTASTIC.

Over all - a wonderfully relaxing and quiet hotel with HEAPS of space to spread out, plenty to do, superior rooms and professional attentive staff. I would LOVE to go back! 5 stars!!!

My only suggestion to the hotel would be to increase lighting in the hallways to the rooms and suites, I found it a little dark.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite upgrade and once offered the price, mention it is a little high. We were offered 50% off instantly :-) Well worth the extra money.
