Stayed there over a weekend (Thur/Fri/Sat) with wife to celebrate anniversary. When you arrive first you are taken aback by the lobby/foyer area which, with its heavy incense scent and vaulted ceiling and background organ music resembles a church more than a hotel lobby. The property was renovated a few years back to a very high standard and we had a very nice sea facing suite - staff are attentive and service excellent. The hotel seems to be focused on high-end tourism and has spacious gardens and beach area with free water sport options for the more adventurous. The only area of criticism is the restaurants and food quality which do not match the Ritz Carlton brand - the property’s restaurants are very basic and the food quality of the Al Kiran both at breakfast and evening meal and more 3/4 star the 5+.
Also, one must factor is another 20% on all costs for local, tourism and service charges which are applied at check-out.
Overall it was a nice experience especially as the adjoining beach is beautiful and a new spa/sports area is well under construction. Tip: Re-confirm any bookings for add-on services as theses can be lost or confused by hotel staff as we experienced.More
