In the Galleria, attached to the Royal Opera House, the Indus has lovely decor with aqua chairs and pillows and no red flocked wallpaper in sight. Take the elevator up one floor to the restaurant; there is outdoor seating as well overlooking the marble courtyard but with the highway in the distance. The food is northern Indian and the biryanis are superior as is the well spiced hamour (solid white fish from the Sea of Oman). The waiters are charming and willing to explain the dishes, condiments and spices. The open kitchen lets you see what is going on...the kebab sticks are something to behold. An eclectic wine list. Given the restaurant's upscale local the high prices should be no surprise.
