“Authentic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

This museum is small yet very informative, showing Omani life and history in a home. The gift shop sells authentic local products (including all of the Amourage perfumes), as does the Omani Heritage Center (http://www.omaniheritage.com). The Muttrah souk is a waste of time, with cheap Made in India goods.

“Small but Worthwhile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

The Museum is a lovely small building. At the time, the entrance was flanked with a series of colourfully painted oryx sculptures (an animal almost extinct). Inside are numerous displays of traditional weaponry, clothing, and jewellery. It's easy to browse in an hour or so. Outside are featured a fishing dhow and a model of Muscat as it was pre-petroleum days. I agree the little shop is very nice, especially the books. However, they did not take credit cards so be sure you have some cash with you (Euros and US dollars accepted).

“Worth a visit”

Plenty to see here at the Museum and the surrounds in the heart of Old Muscat. Nice display of the territorial costumes and jewellery, silverware and artifacts. 2.00 OMR per person.

“A great little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

For a small museum, this gives a great introduction to the history and life in Oman. Well worth an hour or 2 of your time!

“Historical Ride of Oman”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

Bait Al Zubair (House of Al Zubair) is a private museum that opened its carved wooden doors to the public in 1998.

The museum is open from 9am to 6pm (Sat to Thurs).

Khanjar, Sword and Firearms collection is worth remembering and takes on a journey back to past. Huts and lifestyle of Oman and its people have been nicely depicted which might be of interest to those who want to learn and understand the local culture.

By any world standard the museum is maintained very nicely.

Just outside the kahwa and dates are served and believe me the Halwa is the best i had ever tasted in Oman so far.
