Interesting to see the house itself and the displays well laid out. Worth a stop when you are visiting "Old Muscat"

Excellent museum telling the story of Oman and its people. Well displayed exhibits with information in English as well as Arabic. Also has a small shop for good postcards etc.

if museums are your thing spend a half an hour seeing the traditional weapons, omani clothing, jewelllery and household items from days long gone. clean restrooms, take your own toilet paper or wetwipes, and great Arabian coffe in the coffee nshop at the courtyard entrance, served with dates

A great place to go to get a run down on some of the history of Oman and to see some unique artifacts.

I visited the private museum, which they call 'the house that became a museum' Bait Al Zubair. It displays the Zubair family's collection of Omani artefacts that span a few centuries. There's an amazing collection of maps, coins, photographs, prints, jewelry, clothing, khanjars and traditional swords and guns. In another building behind the museum, another two story building of breathtaking artwork. The problem is: many people overlook the artwork in the back because it's not well-marked.
