Stayed here before, twice. Loved it. This time, it was a treat from my friend who lives in Oman. Took a while to check in despite phoning on the day with our room requirements. Think the check in guy had just been moved to check in desk that day so not his fault. Was then helped by a lovely member of staff called "Vivienne". She checked us in early into a room but she was worried it might be noisy at night so offered to move us later. To be honest we found the room fine. Good as her word 3 hours later after using the pool she called and showed us a room on the other side of the corridor away from the night club and car park. She couldn't have helped us more. Fantastic service Vivienne! Room 111, pool level, with balcony, so hop over and you in the pool/bar area ! Breakfast was expensive and a little disappointing for the price so try and get a b and b rate or go out for breakfast if money is tight. Room service breakfast may be a better bet. We went to the a la carte breakfast at about 10:15 (shuts at 10:30), no pork bacon or sausages despite normally available and available on room service breakfast menu. Most things had run out although the chef cooked me 2 poached eggs that were great. If you want to have breakfast tea, then make sure the staff don't pour, let it sit for a while or you will have a very very weak cup of tea ! The pool bar as usual was brilliant "Oka" did a sterling job of making all welcome and making any drink you fancied. The pool staff that dish out towels were very intimidating to ensure you have "checked in/signed in" even if you don't require a towel. Was unaware there was a signing in system for residents and wasn't pointed out at check-in. I guess there are people who are sneaking in to use the pool who are not club members or residents but it did seem over the top until you provided "proof" you were entitled to actually be there !! Overall I still think this hotel is fantastic however the rate we got was less than half advertised as my friend has some sort of discount being an Omani resident. If I was paying the room rate advertised my feedback may be a little different......

This is not a traditional roof top restaurant (2 floors up and we overlooked the car park) but what it lacked in location it made up for in ambience. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The set price menu included wonderfully soft Rosemary bread, soup (leek & potato the night we visited), help yourself salad (great choice), meat and fish from the grill (we tried Spatchcock Chicken and Prawns), a side dish (potatoes, onion rings or vegetables), a dressing and a choice of desserts.

We passed on the starter as associate soup with cold winter nights and we didn’t have room for a pudding. The set price menu (52 OMR for two) also included water, beer, spirits and wine (average quality). Great value – would we go again – definitely.

Room Tip: We didn't stay at the hotel, only visited the restaurant

Dear LANDG75, thank you for your valued feedback about Safari Rooftop Grill House. We are delighted to hear that you would come back again. Many of our guests appreciate the all-inclusive package and is quite popular among guests and residents of Oman.

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at the Grand Hyatt in Oman. The hotel was lovely, breakfast fantastic and the staff service was outstanding (particularly Mr Sri - Front Desk Manager). We would certainly recommend this hotel to others.
Our one word of advice (not related to the hotel) is to ensure that haggle with the local taxi drivers who have a tendency to overcharge.

What a great experience at the Grand Hyatt in Muscat. Comments as follows:

Lobby/Hotel: Luxurious, spacious lobby and welcoming area. The architecture inside and out really gave me the feeling that I was in the Middle East.

Rooms: Immaculate and well decorated. The bathroom was huge and gorgeous. The balcony was a nice touch overlooking the city. It's the small things that you remember as well...the king size bed was so comfortable and the pillows were top of the line. Strong water pressure and water temperature in the shower were perfect.

Staff: All friendly, and always greeted me. I upgraded to the VIP lounge area which included free wifi, breakfast, limited dinner 6-8pm, and drinks 6-8pm. The staff remembered my breakfast order each day.

Pool/Beach: Great pool with waterfalls and a bar in the water. Beach front property with lounge chairs on the grass but not any on the sand. Poolside lunch is very expensive.

I think the location was good although I didn't venture out that much during my stay. It is about a 15 min cab ride to the Mutrah Souq (which is def worth a visit) and it costs 6 OR ($15). Thanks for a great stay at an amazing resort.

Wanted a couple of days away so went online. Have stayed at Hyatt before so for my first visit to Muscat played safe online and booked a club room with a sea view.
Don't know why but every time I stay at a Hyatt my room us at the end of a very long corridor.
The sort you get in horror movies which seem to stretch the longer you walk.
But we got to room 327 and it was well worth a moments grumble.
Lovely room and not just a box with windows and a balcony.
Very quick room service for ice and beers. We arrived during Eid so our first night was 'dry'
Club room breakfast perfect
Eggs boiled as requested, perfect expresso. And above all a happy wife swimming and sunning herself.
Must be time for a mint and lemonade!
Perfect for a honeymoon, will come back for my next one.
That'll be my 38th in 2014

Room Tip: Go for a club room- more expensive but worth it- at the end of a corridor

Dear RForbesRobertson, thank you for your valued feedback.

What a pleasant review! We are excited to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your recent stay with us. Apologies that you had to walk through a long corridor to get to your room - the building is indeed quite big!

We thank you once again and hope to see you again very soon.

We stayed one night during a three day road trip to Oman from Dubai.
The hotel is located on the seafront in the embassy area - full of police so perhaps this means it is a very safe place to be - or maybe not, who knows.

The hotel is in Arabic style of architecture, inside very grand like the Hong Kong hotels with a huge lobby and lots and lots of decoration.

Upon arrival, nobody greeted us at the entrance where we parked to download our luggage. There were three members of staff and nobody acknowledged us. I greeted them warmly and asked for help with the luggage. We stayed just before the Eid holiday and the price of a standard king was $400. The guy at reception (Yousef??) was also quite unfriendly. He placed us in a room overlooking the back yard (where the maintenance works are done) and on top of all of the air conditioners - providing an ongoing permanent hum. We needed a good night sleep so asked to be moved to a room with less noise. Luckily they moved us to another room (which had a view over the swimming pool). This was MUCH quieter. The rooms are lavishly decorated and in very good order. Not so much modern. Cleanliness was very good.

Amenities in the bathroom were of low quality (not even a well known brand) and the slippers were the cheapest I have seen, leading me to believe that the hotel is trying to save money.

I tried to make a restaurant reservation with the concierge, who clearly could not be bothered. So I insisted he rang the restaurant to check if they served the food we wanted. He did so and seemed surprised I asked.

Upon returning after dinner, not late say 9.30, I asked concierge where we could have drinks and ice cream and the lady responded - we can order room service. What a strange suggestion - there are 3 restaurants, cafes and a bar in this hotel! Why would they suggest room service!

We went to the bar and the service was nice and the prices moderate.

Mini bar prices were just ridiculous and we have lots of 5 star hotels to compare to.
No free wifi anywhere in the hotel.

Overall, I rate this hotel poorly. Service was non existent. The only friendly person we came across was the Indian bell boy who took our luggage to the room.

It feels like the staff are either complacent and not happy to work there. Very disappointing considering all of the other places we stayed in/went to in Oman the Omanis were super super friendly and welcoming.

The asset itself - the property, is good but without the service it is not worth the money they charge. I will not return nor will I recommend to anyone. Upon checking out the receptionist did ask how our stay was, and I gave this feedback. He was apologetic and offered to reduce our room rate (which we refused our of modesty) and then he offered us our round of drinks at the bar (maybe $25 worth). Sorry that is not enough to make it better. But I appreciated his personal efforts.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room to avoid being put in a room overlooking the noisy maintenance area

Grand Hyatt, Muscat, is among the best luxury hotels, that I have stayed in. This is an ideal place in Middle East to relax and rejoice for few quality days with your family. The privileged palace like hotel is lined up with all top class facilities for the family including the royal rooms, pools, jacuzy, access to open clean beach, work out facilities, lobby, yummy and variety restaurants, clubs and what not. The Mocha Cafe, Marjan Indonesian Restaurants all adds to your dream stay at Hyatt. For a traveler it is very much near to the airport and at the mid of Muscat City accessible to all prominent spots in Muscat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony opening to the pool or beach side
