A wonderful experience from every aspect - room comfort, restaurant food, staff efficiency, ambience, outdoor areas. Of course it's not cheap, but you get what you pay for! Only downside is the noise from the pool, so best to get a room facing the other way

Room Tip: Probably best to ask for a room not facing the pool area as this can get quite noisy, especially at...

I have used the facilities at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on a number of occasions recently. It is a plush 5* hotel, right on the beach. The pool is great (with a pool bar area that can be crowded with ex-pats at weekends) with a lazy river and a separate kids pool. Staff are lovely. An all in must do if you are in Muscat

This is my second stay at the Grand Hyatt Muscat. The hotel is very comfortable with a wide variety of restaurants. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff is a bit slow but responsive to inquiries. Very nice lobby. Gym is well equipped and very well maintained.

Room Tip: Try getting a room on the Al Fahl tower facing the beach. View is very nice

This hotel is heavily themed, in a way a bit OTT and a bit fanciful. From an interior design point of view, it is dated. I do think that in another 10 years, the lobby and public areas will be considered classic. Kind of cool. Arabian kitsch.
The rooms are modern enough, mine was perfectly fine and large. Great bathroom. Atho manoeuvring around the television choices/channels was cumbersome at best and annoying at worst. The same for the internet (it is not free in the rooms), a very clumsy interface with senseless codes and passwords. Awful !!
The outdoor bar requires a refresh and renovation. The lawn is superb. The location on the beach front is super.
Had fish & chips one nite - the fish was totally overlooked, mushy & tasteless. Their tandoori nite featured bland, again tasteless, cubes of meat. It should be cooked to order not minutes ahead of time.
Would I go again. Yes. The location and staff make this a desirable establishment. Not the food.

Room Tip: Unlike the emirates and Qatar, alcohol serving time on a Friday is 1400. Kind of messes up the star...

Dear Mike O , thank you for your valued feedback. We are sorry about the shortcoming experienced in our restaurants. We will certainly share this information with our chefs especially concerning the fish & chips and about the tandoori.

We hope that when you return next time, you will experience the difference when dining with us. Once again thank you for your time and we hope to welcome you back again.

The Grand Hyatt Muscat has most elaborate and established Friday brunch in the city. So it was the easy choice for this out of towner. I was joined by three friends - two Muscatis and a visitor from the UK - and I am pleased to say the food and service was as good as the company.

I regularly stay Grand Hyatt Muscat as the city is my favorite escape destination and tried a couple of their outlets, but this was my first proper brunch at the hotel.

The set-up for this Friday was "Beverly Hills Brunch" and came complete with a low key DJ. Not sure about the link to the 90210 postcode (Muscat Hills perhaps?), but any buffet with a salmon en croute station (which I have never seen at brunches in Dubai, Doha or Bahrain) and free flow Moet on offer wins my vote.

Other offerings include a sushi bar with rolls and sashimi cut to order, a "pork room" with a roast leg of pork and other cold cuts, pasta, smoked fish, seafood bar and roast sections as well as an extensive salad, Arabic food and dessert selection. I tried a selection but the salmon en croute, (which was clearly a hit and I saw it replenished at least twice), the sushi rolls (the sushi chef's sharp knife was working overtime) and the tempura prawns (cooked to order) were my favorite offerings.

The cheese selection would rival anything in Europe - an entire heaving trestle table of well known and also obscure European cheeses. This cheeseophile was in creamy heaven.

Unlike neighboring Doha and Dubai, Oman has some pretty strict rules pertaining to sale of alcohol on Friday. That is, it can't be served until after 2pm. As a result the Hyatt have extended brunch until 4.30pm to appease people who want to drink and dine.

My suggestion is to plan ahead and not to come until 1.30-1.45pm if you are up for a drink. That gives you a couple of hours of indulgence and also lets you enjoy the great food.

Cafe Mokha has floor to ceiling windows over the garden and the terrace, but being mid-June sadly it was too hot to venture outside. Although it was busy, service never once felt hurried. The Australian wine offered was excellent and of course, the Moet always hits the spot.

Those looking for a Dubai-style brunch bacchanalia should perhaps stay in the UAE (or head to Vegas). This is a relaxed gourmet-style afternoon, perfect for catch-up with friends or a family outing.

If you want pure decadence, the buffet with free flowing wine, beer and Moet bubbles is OMR 49 or just OMR 35 for alcohol and soft drinks.

Room Tip: this was a restaurant review for Cafe Mokha's Friday brunch. Alcohol is not served until after 2...

Dear Rachel Ann Morris, thank you for your fantastic review. We were really happy to read your feedback about our Friday brunch and are very glad to hear that all your favourites were on offer.

The information about the timing of our brunch and packages were spot on. We also have a third package available for non-alcoholic drinkers that is priced at OMR 22 per person including soft drinks and water. As for children under 12 years, they can also dine for free.

We look forward to welcoming you back again and hope to read another exciting review about Grand Hyatt Muscat.

My wife booked this hotel from the UK and we spent Xmas here and what a wonderful time we had. Normally we rush around like headless chickens but we had decided this time we would just chill out.

The hotel staff were excellent as was the hotel, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was helpful. Normally we don't stay for prolonged periods in such a luxury hotel so it was a treat for us.

Breakfast on the terrace with attentive staff and an excellent choice of dishes.

Just sitting in the foyer area was inspiring with the decor and architecture. Rooms and room service excellent and we even got to like the wacky external design. Pool area very nice and right on the beach for an afternoon leisurely walk to Qurum.

Had a meal on the roof terrace in the adjoining restaurant which was expensive (we didn't taken advantage of the ability to drink as much as you wanted). I didn't regret the cost at all.

I hope I return to this hotel again and it won't be too soon.

Room Tip: Have a room which overlooks the garden, pool area.

We had an excellent weekend at this superb hotel. From check in to check out the service was exceptional from all of the staff.

The check in was fast and although we had to wait for a 20 minutes for our room key, the staff were pleasant and helpful. I believe there is valet parking, but on this weekend the foyer was so busy that we just left our luggage with the bellboys and parked the car myself. The luggage was delivered to our room quickly, and the additional roller bed was provided along with a fruit bowl almost immediately after we had entered our room.

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with a large selection of toiletries etc. There is a Nespresso machine with a few capsules, and in the evening turndown the capsules were refilled. There is also a iPad Dock alarm clock/speaker which came in handy.

The pool is probably the best part of this hotel and at the weekend it was incredibly busy by early afternoon. They provide towels, PFD’s (lifejackets) for children and regularly come around with cold towels. Within the pool is a bar with underwater stools and on this particular weekend were offering a bucket of beer for 10 OR net along with bar snacks and food available. The place does attract a lot of local members, but along with the music, I think it gives the pool a good atmosphere compared to other much quieter hotels in the area.

I agree with comments on the Safari bar and some of the cliental, however that doesn’t detract from it being a good place to party.

I’d say that the hotel is probably the most appealing for anyone in their late twenties/early thirties, or for someone who likes a little bit of life.

If you don’t want to eat in the hotel, within a few minutes walking distance along the beach you can find many other restaurants to wine and dine as well as coffee shops.
We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the pool/ocean rather then towards the mountains.

Dear Richard R, thank you for your fantastic feedback. It's great to hear that your stay was enjoyable and that you will return again.

We're happy to hear you enjoyed the poolside and bar. You're right! It is quite popular amongst residents in Oman especially on the weekends.

Until then, we look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.
