On reading other reviews of this hotel I discovered that some people will whine about almost anything ... just never satisfied.
Firstly, the hotel looks very impressive upon arrival ... superb furnishings, very flamboyant lobby etc. However we arrived very late (1.30am) and were greeted by the very loud party/disco that was still going on. Fortunately the room we were given was away from this but it did take some time to get us checked in and we were given the 'upgrade sell' immediately. Not really what you need after a long day's work and a delayed flight. At that stage of the evening we were ready to agree with anything to get to bed.
Our room was very nice, balcony and sea views, lovely bathroom with walk in shower. The bed was very comfortable. We spent all next morning by the attractive pool ... however this is low season and I would imagine this could get very crowded in high ... It is clearly used at weekends by the many diplomats who live close by. There is also easy access to the beach and corniche where you can walk in the evenings ... though it was really too hot to do much walking when we were there. We ate in the grand club lounge and found the food to be very nice and the staff friendly and helpful at all times. This applied to all the hotel staff including those by the pool. The club lounge is a great place to relax out of the sun and you can do so all day long.
Now for the downside ... firstly I can see that noise might be a problem depending on when you go and where you are given a room. And I imagine the pool gets very busy in high season.
When we returned to our room from the pool on our first day the room had been serviced and I noticed stains on the duvet cover. It transpired that these were not on the cover but on the duvet itself and were so bad they were showing through the cover. A further examination suggested these were blood stains or possibly something worse. The staining was considerable and there is no way that the person servicing the room would not have seen them (I was appalled to discover that we had slept under this the previous evening). In my opinion, cleanliness is the most important thing to look for in a hotel and this was definitely not suggestive of a 5 star rating, nor is it in keeping with the very high hotel costs. When I complained to house keeping the duvet was immediately changed, and the cover, upon our request. I noted that the latter had a hole in it ... five star? I think not. An apology was also offered from the manager. We then discovered that the toiletries in the bathroom had not been renewed and had to ask for these ... those in the bathroom upon our arrival were also half empty and the soap was wet, suggesting we had been given those of the previous occupants. Again, this is not what you expect of a five star hotel, or one as expensive as the Grand Hyatt. Despite these two issues we really did like the hotel thanks in large part to the friendly staff, the ambience and the location. And we would certainly return. But I think issues around room servicing need addressed and I note I am not the first person to remark on this.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the nightclub and the car park. Don't expect uninterrupted sleep otherwise.

I have stayed here 3 times - once with work and twice as we went to the ANZO Ball 2 years running. The hotel is expensive and the layout is shocking - you have to walk through corridors and more corridors to get to your room signage is dreadful - really poor design.
We had a buffet lunch it was ok - our room was very nice 428 - top floor and looked over the beach - shower was excellent. Housekeeping rang the doorbell 30 mins after we checked in to see if we wanted to replenish the mini bar.................
We won't be staying again 3rd time lucky didn't work for us
On a positive the ANZO ball 2012 had absolutely disgusting food this year we had a late lunch just incase it was the same - the food this year was 100% improved so well done Grand Hyatt for that

Room Tip: Room 428 had a nice view !

A great Muscat experience made even better with the Grand Hyatt. Exquisite location and a luxurious feel to it all. Very friendly staff with focus on the guests.
A bit too high glam factor on the cars parked outside the reception made the wait for taxi's too long, it did not manage to force it's way past the Lamborghini's and Ferrari's

A lovely beach hotel suitable for business and vacation. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, good shower and WIFi in rooms and around the hotel. Several restaurants to choose from- overall good food. Super poolside area. Enjoyed going to the English pub which had a live band in the evening. The Maarjan restaurant's new indonesian menu is a major improvement. Food and drink Can be expensive. Lastly a special thanks to Mahmood in the Maarjan for being such a fantastic host - he is a credit to the Hyatt chain!

Room Tip: Ask for a garden or sea view room.

Stayed here again after a 5 year break, and still was as good as I remember. Still impresses when walking in. Check-in and check-out was friendly, quick and efficient and room was very roomy and had a huge comfortable bed. Was disappointed that no in room iron & board, but maybe the people who usually stay there don't do their own ironing!

Minor issues - wi-fi in room (close to buffet restaurant) was very unreliable, and kept dropping out all the time. Reception better in one corner of the room, but no good anywhere else. also discovered tea & coffee making stuff hidden in drawer next to the mini-bar. Was pointed out by the helpful mini-bar man, but surprised it wasn't mentioned by the bellboy.

Only other complaint was the breakfast buffet, which was adequate but a bit dull, and not quite up to the standard you might expect here.

Other than that, a good stay all round. Would have been better if on vacation with the great pool and beach, but maybe next time.

Not the best 5* star, but probably 4.5 star to be fair.
The staff were friendly but spent too much time trying to sell me upgrades.

Having to pay for WIFI is a no no for me.

The room was clean, spacious and I slept okay. I had room service which was okay.
Overall value probably was just okay, if slightly expensive

Dear obbarry, many thanks for your valued feedback. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at Grand Hyatt Muscat.
Unfortuntately we have to pay third party vendors for providing the service of internet hence are unable to offer it free of cost. I hope that this does not stop you from coming back to Grand Hyatt Muscat in the near future.
