Its a traditional arabic style, with lots of nice art, and the facilities were just fantastic.
Its great to go here as a familiy, and a great place to relax.
Only minus for me was the gym, but Im a crossfitter so I have special needs at a gym

While this is not touted as a resort, and is in fact close to the centre for business travelers, it nonetheless has a great pool area, is right on the beach and the staff were very family friendly. We had a one bed room suite which had a spacious bedroom - enough to accommodate an extra child bed - and still not cramped. The separate living room has enough space for my girl to do cartwheels! The hotel rooms are like a wide 'u' shape with two lines running into the ocean so only the rooms at the end of the two forks have sea view. In our case, the room number 353 is one back from the end and had lovely views but we had to insist on changing from our original room to it. Be careful of the rooms that area directly above the reception area, ie the bottom of the U, as these are directly above the drive into the hotel, have no sea view and lower floor balconies are overlooked.

The rest of the hotel was great, the pool side Indonesian theme restaurant and the Italian are both good as was the impressive lounge area for afternoon tea.

Room Tip: On the two wings, room looking outside of the hotel, like ours, 352, 353, 354 are closest to the oce...

That might be one of just two Muscat-based hotels with a decent beach club. The pool-side bar is amazing and the staff are doing a great job and are very friendly and sociable towards customers. Top-rate service.

Had a great time while staying here. We visited the sports bar and the drinks were good. I liked the safari pub but it was too crowded. There is one more discotheque but wasn't happening.
The buffet of mocha cafe is not very great. It's average.
The pool and the poolside bar are awesome.

Stayed for 2 nights on business in October. Food was decent, as was the service. Room was spacious but not particularly modern. Direct access to to the promenade area and beach means going for a walk or run is really convenient. Sports bar attached to the hotel as well as a restaurant and another bar. This was full of mainly Chinese hookers so best to stick with the sports bar, which did a decent steak. Nothing bad to say - would consider staying there again when in Oman.

I travel for leisure for three to four months each year mainly in Europe and Asia...occasionally to the Americas. Rarely do I have such disappointing experiences as my stay at the Grand Hyatt in Muscat. A hotel that I will not return to. What really concerns me is that it is rated number one in Muscat. I am deeply concerned to read the rave reviews from other guests......what on earth are they comparing it to and where else are they staying?

The hotel is ostentatious and if this is what you want, then you will like this. The rooms are also spacious and well appointed although thin on reading matter and information. The welcome is totally "bulk standard", the kind of airport hotel check in. Nothing to indicate anything 5*. No cold towel or refreshing drink. Check in staff are friendly and try to resolve problems as best as they can and in a friendly manner. Porter service to the room is an insult although the more senior concierge staff have better interpersonal skills.

Internet access is charged for at the rate of £6/hour. In this day, complimentary internet access is expected and is provided in the other Muscat hotels eg Shangri-la. This, together with the £2 a time for local calls give the feeling that the hotel is deeply intent on ripping the customer off.

Seriously, the pool service is a joke. The guest is faced with a pool assistant in a dirty creased shirt who does not even get up to welcome. Simply points to a disclaimer form that must be signed. After that, you are on your own. It embarrassed me to see elderly guests moving their loungers and mattreses. I would have offered to help but that would have been a full time job. Quite frankly disgusting. The only attention offered at the pool was from f&b staff trying to sell. The pool itself is cloudy and too full of gimics to make an enjoyable swim.
We did not eat in the hotel because the menus did not attract. Breakfast was fair only. The more senior Filipina restaurant supervisors are superb in every respect as is the local (?) Breakfast chef. The more junior male and female staff (Filipino?) are unskilled and offhand to the point of rudeness.

We made a private arrangement with one of the Hyatt Taxi drivers to take us out and about for two days. Very comfortable car and a good guide. I can provide more details if anyone is interested.

Since leaving three weeks ago, I have stayed in Phuket, Georgetown, Penang and am currently in Langkawi. You can see from my other reviews that I am totally satisfied with my other experiences. The Grand Hyatt Muscat does not do credit to either the brand or the country.

Room Tip: I honestly can not think of any major tips. Remember before paying for extortionate internet, Skype...

Muscat is one of the favorite cities in the Middle East, of not the world. I always decompress as soon as I land there. This is my seventh trip to Oman and the third to this hotel and the standards remain high.

Located on the beach in the picturesque Shatti Al Qurum area, the hotels' neighbors are the foreign embassies and upmarket houses and cafes. Meant to resemble a palace, the hotel, while business oriented, has a real resort feel. With landscaped gardens and a healthy sized pool (with a lazy river, outside jacuzzi and a swim up bar), it more than holds its' own with leisure facilities.

One of the busiest in Muscat, the lobby is always buzzing with VIPs and others as this is the go-to hotel in Oman, but guests can expect a friendly welcome. the lobby, with it's famous revolving statue, is a great place for a tea and for people watching.

The rooms are spacious and many have a sea or garden view. As to be expected with a Hyatt, the beds are fantastic - just soft enough to be super comfortable. Some rooms have small balconies which mean you can watch the sunset over the Arabian Sea. It's one of the few places in the GCC where you can fall asleep to the sound of waves.

The bathrooms are large, with a separate tub and shower with lovely amenities. I do appreciate the extras Hyatt have as part of their standard amenities including mouthwash etc. Other extras include wireless internet for up to three devices for guests.

I was staying on one of the Grand Club floors, which has access to the Grand Club, one of the most spacious and well appointed in the Middle East. The terrace means you can have a sundowner and snack from the buffet. Breakfast in the Club is compact but tasty - an array of meats and cheese, salmon and fruits as well as good coffee. The service here is cheerful and friendly.

I had the opportunity to try the Friday Brunch in Cafe Mokha - a veritable international feast. the best parts included the thoughtful cheese selection (the way to my heart), the separate pork room and a fabulous selection of local seafood. The offerings were tasty and the chefs and staff friendly and helpful - advice was needed when confronted with the choice. the great thing about the Hyatt is its' use of outdoor space. so we enjoyed the mid winter warmth on the terrace.

Meanwhile the concierge staff were able to assist me with some planning including information about the new Big Bus Tour of Muscat (a must-do) and were helpful with booking taxis and cars when needed.

I will be spending a lot of time in Muscat in the coming months, and I can't think of a better place to call my second home.

Room Tip: As always, the Club rooms provide the best value, but request a room with an ocean view
