“Very welcoming!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

We stayed here for three nights (before staying at The Chedi in Muscat for another three nights) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially thanks to all the wonderful staff.

Even though the hotel is getting somewhat dated, it is very well maintained and therefore in very good condition with everything functioning well.

We had a Club room, which gives access to the Club lounge as well, which is definitely worth the extra price if you spend quite a bit of the time in and around the hotel itself during he daytime.

Our room had a nice sea view (from fifth floor) and was very well insulated, so no noise from corridors or neighboring rooms. The bed was of a very good quality allowing a very comfortable sleep (selection of different types of pillows available as well).

The hotel gym is very clean and large and has a very good selection of latest gym equipment, which probably is also why the gym appears to have many external gym members. It was never too busy though.

Breakfast was of a very good quality with a wide variety of western as well as well as oriental items.

The best thing about the hotel though is the staff: always very friendly, professional, fast when required, and flexible to adjust to customer's wishes. Exemplary!

We would certainly consider staying here again.

Room Tip: A Club room is definitely worth the extra cost if you can get it for a reasonable price.

Never made any comment to any hotels I used to stay, but this time, it's worth sharing. Stayed for a few days in this hotel, and have noticed an overall superb service.
It was and will always be a busy day in a well known hotel, but this didn't diminished their quality service. From the reception to my room, all staffs were accommodating and always courteous/considerate in all manner.
Worth to mention my experience in Musandam Cafe. It was always busy when I was there, noticed a staff (if I am not mistaken, her name is Sanaa), who never fails to check customers needs aside from what they've asked, indeed it was an extra initiative for her, but it's highly noticeable. Like she's always around, (fast) moving from customer to customer with a smiling face with it.
Kudos to Intercontinental Hotel Muscat, most specially to ALL your staffs who promotes the real, genuine superb hotel service!

I've been visiting for years and the service by the pool has let's say been less than average

I just went last week and Iqbal has been made in charge WOW what a difference, service every 5 minutes, amazing and fantastic to see such a change

A clock around the pool would be a great addition and a menu that wasn't trying to be Italian would make a lot more sense, leave the Italian to the evening where it can be real Italian

Lunch should be simple and international

We'll done on getting the service so switched on Iqbal

Room Tip: Hotel old but comfortable F&b needs work and modernising

I stayed here recently just for one night while on a work trip, the hotel is very clean and easy to get around. Rooms are of a decent size with modern furnishings and facilities.

The Restaurant food is nice, with a wide variety of food. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

The Gym at this hotel is pretty amazing, its quite large and offers a personal trainer and a selection of work out machines.

The Hotel is located right near the Beach, with a few shops near by. Its a nice place to stay for a few nights.

I have stayed in 3 hotels in Muscat over the past 90 days and the Intercontinental provides the best combination of the 3 for Business, Resort and Convenience. The breakfast buffet was by far one of the healthiest that I have seen the past 6 months of travel in MENA, the health club facilities very satisfactory and room service very prompt. I also found that upgrading to the Club Level a good value.

We have just returned from a week in Muscat and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. We cannot say enough positive things about the staff, who were terrific from the moment we arrived. We were fortunate to be given club lounge access for the duration of our stay, and that was wonderful. A little bit of calm....lovely snacks and drinks, and again very friendly and attentive staff. Our room had a sea view, which was a bonus. It was large, and immaculately clean. Bottles of water were left each day and the toiletries were replaced as they were used. The buffet breakfast had a huge variety of food, and was wonderful. Our only gripe was that the service was not as great at the weekend (Fri/Sat) as during the week. The staff seemed to be a bit more rushed, perhaps with the brunch due to take place later. We ate in Trader Vics, which was ok. Tomato, the Italian restaurant was very good, and good value for money. One added bonus for us was that the Red Arrows aerobatic display team performed directly in front of the hotel on the Wednesday afternoon, and it was fabulous. The hotel put on a fantastic afternoon for local people, and there were lots of drinks stations, ice cream and popcorn stations and hotdogs, which made the children there very happy. It was a treat when the pilots came to the hotel after the display and mixed with the guests. Don't be put off by the outside of the building. It does look like a multi-storey carpark! A quick coat of white paint would transform it. We have heard changes are due to be made over the next few months. We certainly couldn't complain about the interior. The concierge was very helpful when we needed taxis to go and visit the Grand Mosque, or the Souk at Muttrah. The prices from the hotel are set in advance, so you know what you are expected to pay before you make your journey. It worked well for us. We look forward to our next visit, and we would stay here again.

Dear Erica E,

what a wonderful review. Thank you very much.

I am glad that you experienced the known Omani hospitality at our hotel. I can just agree that the event with the Red Arrows was a wonderful afternoon for the local and our hotel guests, but especially for the plenty of kids.
Congratulation for the amazing photograph you have taken. It shows the perfect setting this event had.

I sincerely hope you will consider our hotel again for your next vacation. Unfortunately I will not be able to promise you the Red Arrows again ;-).
