“Avoid it - it's DRY !!!”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Was booked in for 5 nights but left after one - luckily the Radisson had space. Check-in was friendly and impeccable, porter was courteous in the extreme - but my problems started with the room. It was too dark to read or work in. Then, the room service - very limited choice and couldn't find the wine list. When I asked I was told it was not available. Alcohol is not banned in Oman, but this place is owned by a conservative sheikh from Al Ain with other ideas. Why on earth stay here ? No view, no atmosphere but really friendly and helpful staff at least some of whom do not agree with the food and drink policy. NEVER AGAIN !

City Seasons would be a perfect business hotel. It's all there: free internet, free breakfast, friendly staff, large rooms, complete bathrooms... there are a few minor issues. The internet (wifi or cable as you prefer) is free but it is so slow that my laptop nearly died of boredom. Data drips in and it's best to have a bath while the email is being downloaded. Then there is the airco. The airco has the regular controls, but in real life it has two options: slightly too warm, or freezing cold. There is nothing in between. There are comments on noise level and soundproof rooms; I did not notice any noise at all, not from the street (my room was first floor) and not from the neighbours (not sure if I had any by the way).
Breakfast is nice, very nice. Special bonus for the coffee bar next to the lobby. They serve what I consider to be the best espresso in Muscat.
Ah yes, taxis drive all the way up to the front door. Fainthearted travelers should consider to tell the driver to stop in the street. The twisty narrow passage to the front door will allow only the smallest taxis to pass, with millimeters to spare.
Summarised: if the hotel fixes the internet and the airco then I would definitely rate it excellent. As it is, I'd say it's good value for money.

I usually stay at the Park Inn in Muscat but because that was full on my last visit, I tried the City Seasons at the suggestion of a friend.

I had never heard of this hotel before and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very courteous, the room large, good food, convenient location and altogether a most enjoyable stay.

I come frequently to Muscat and I will certainly be patronising the City Seasons for my future visits.

I stayed in this hotel in Jul 12 on a business visit. A perfect luxury hotel to stay. Room ambience is eye catchee with all required amenities. Very clean and well maintained hotel. Hotel staff at reception was not that much professional but it was ok. Room service was very fast.
Plenty of restrarant options avaialble within walkable distance. Also supermaket is within 1 minitue walkable distance. Overall best hotel to stay when you are in Muscat.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent

As mentioned by many others, this hotel is not very good soundproofed. You can hear almost everything from your neigbours and the corridor. And we did have problems with the light switch three out of four nights in this hotel.

The rooms had a good size, but not very cosy or comfortable. Cleaning was ok, beds a little bit hard (but prefer that instead of too soft beds).

Centrally located in town, but you normally need a taxi for everything in this city as the different things you want to visit is spread aroud in town anyway.

Big foodstore and TGI Friday in the same bulding.

Service ok, but not too many smiles from the people working in the hotel. Breakfast ok, good choice of different items and fresh made omeletts.

The pool on the roof is a nice place for a couple of hours, but for the whole day I would recommend you to visit the Grand Hyatt. They cahrge yu 10 OMR for a day at the pool and their private beach.

First the Taxi driver rightfully so, complained bitterly of the car entry to the hotel..
It is made to challenge driver..He is right , Why I start there because it is the first thing I face checking in... the driver had to struggle to make the right entry..
Second reason I start from there..is you can say this very much about everything in this hotel!..
You get challenged.. to see inside you cabinet cause the light inside glares your eye as if you have upcoming care with high beam!!..The rest the room lighting is worse!!. you have to move from side to side to control it..
the bathroom was dirty when I checked in, and it;s floor made of tiles to make slip and fall..I did !!
Now during the night..I could not sleep there was huge sport team who made the long corridor a bazaar affair...windows are dusty and sun light can barely come through.
Breakfast is ok , workers look like they are forced to work.. I fail to spot anybody smiling!
Now is there anything good..yes it is cheap... and you have to a choice how do you want to treat yourself.. I am not going back!

I have stayed here for three days during a business trip. The hotel is in new Muscat. Some of the sights are close (opera is not far, Grand Mosque is close). There is a huge supermarket next to the hotel and some joint burgers where you can enjoy "European" tastes. (I skipped that, I like the food in the Middle East a lot!)

The hotel is new and everything, however some things are really weird. The walls are starting to get dirty, they do not take care of that. They need to do something to make the rooms sound proof since you can hear everything what is going on the street and on the corridor. A part of the building seems to be not yet being utilized (ready). The hot water was only lukewarm (this is a really sensitive issue for me).

So if you are looking for a hotel, with fair prices well located, it is a good choice. But do not wait for an "experience".
