A long weekend in Muscat was what we wanted and a great place to stay was needed. Neither disappointed. Muscat is clean, fresh, beautiful and in-tune with its environment. It is not brash or boastful and the Omani welcome was warm and friendly. The trip was made all the better by our choice of where to stay, L'Espace. This was a place that was recommended by friends and we know they would not settle for second best. It did not disappoint. A relaxed and well proportioned property that has had its most interesting features enhanced by the very kind Sofia and her equally charming family. Our room was at the top of the guest house and was well decorated, clean and well presented. We had access to the roof top area that was set out to relax in comfort while overlooking the sea. Breakfast was fresh and individual needs were catered for and there was no shortage of helpful advice about places to visit, eat and the best way to get there. Nothing was too much trouble and we were spoilt by the hospitality. It is a little out of town but this is easily solved by taxi or more simply by renting a car. Being out of town a little did have the advantage of being in a pleasantly quiet area and on the right side of town for the airport. If you are looking for charm and the personal touch, we can definitely recommend L'Espace.

The reviewers are right, and we were not disappointed. The house is amazing! Sofia is most helpful. Breakfasts were the best we had in the Mid East. The neighborhood was lovely and nice to walk around. The nightly BBQ in the parking lot is good. A rental car is necessary. The desalination plant should not even be complained about. It is a non issue to me. The call to prayer at the nearby mosque starts at 5:30am.

Room Tip: Second floor means two floors around ground level and is a lot of stairs. You are close to the outd...

We absolutely loved it !!! We originally planned to do a quick blast of Muscat in December of 2011 but due to our leaving things at the last minute, we couldn't book any room there.

Fast forward December, 2012 ... We were delighted with the swift respond to our enquiry by email and we got booked in for 2 nites. Sofia was the perfect hostess from our very first email correspondence. She came up with very helpful suggestions on what we could squeeze in on our short stopover in Muscat.

Wish we were back at L'espace, sitting on the majlis on the rooftop terrace (most of the time, we were the only ones there!!) or enjoying the yummy and very healthy breakfast or just simply entertaining (and being entertained!) by Coquin !! Oh ... And do browse around the little shop in the corner of their foyer - some beautiful items to be had there.

We have no problem and indeed barely noticed the desalination plant. On the contrary, we found it to be a bonus when we had to take an impromptu taxi back after lunch at the Chedi (a pretty forgettable meal). We couldn't describe where we were heading to but the cabbie knew the whereabouts of the plant !

All-in-all, a fantastic chill-out time at L'espace before our Christmas trip back to the UK. Definitely highly recommended. The next time we're back in Muscat, we wouldn't go anywhere else, that's for sure.

I stayed here for a long weekend in January and I cannot fault it. I stayed with three friends and all of us had a wonderful time and totally recommend this House. Sofie, the Lady of the House was exceptional in that she arranged everything for us regarding taxis, tours etc and the breakfast on the Terrace was amazing. I will totally be visiting Muscat and this House again. I cannot commend Sofie and the girls who help her run the establishment high enough. Everything from the accommodation to the wonderful location right on the Beach is superb.

We stayed at L'Espace on 5th/6th and 9th January 2013, with a gap for a 2-night tour with 'Sun and Sand' (just a note of warning, do not travel with them, they booked us into inferior places, especially Desert Safari Camp, and the owner is the rudest, most difficult person we have come across in our extensive travels). Anyway, Sofia is the opposite; could not be more helpful with things to see and the 'right' taxi fares, stored our luggage while we were away and was happy to chat at any time. The place is immaculate and full of interesting objects. Take no notice of the (very) few reports of noise from the de-salination plant, inside it's inaudible and outside it's a slight background hum.

The l'Espace is located in a beautiful house on the beach in Muscat, extremely tastefully decorated, with huge and very comfortable rooms.
On top of that, you have plenty of "social areas" where you can just seat and read a book, go online or just seat and relax (rooftop terrace, leaving rooms, TV room downstairs, dining room, ...)
Services is extremely efficient and extremely nice.
One of the best place with an amazing homely feeling we have stayed in Oman.

We stayed two nights here at the beginning of our trip and one night at the end. Sophia goes out of her way to make you welcome and help you plan your trip, she has great local knowledge. Breakfast was excellent and you can choose to eat outside on the veranda. There is also roof terrace with sun loungers.
