“Terrific Stay”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We were fortunate to find La Colombiere and while they have an excellent web site it really does not do the property justice. Excellent rooms, beautiful grounds and a fantastic location with the Canal D'Midi right in their back yard. Excellent breafast, rooms and bathrooms with the best shower we came across in France. A real bonus was the pool and hot tub. The location is very good for exploring rural France and Pierre Claude and Evelyne are excellent hosts. Terrific!

Room Tip: All the rooms are four star quality.

What a delight it was to stay with Pierre Claude & Evelyne at their beautiful place along the Canal du Midi. The accommodation was perfect, a beautiful property and a great breakfast. We would have enjoyed a longer stay but had plans to move on. If you are near the area or just passing through, you should stay here. Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful as we had 'technology problems' that they were able to help us fix. A great stay for couples and families.

We booked a bit late and so the only room available was a family room with a double bed and two singles sharing an en-suite bathroom/toilet. This was reasonably priced and sufficient for our needs although there was only a curtain between the room and the bathroom which might not please everyone but was fine for us. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and ensured that we had everything we needed. There was a small shelter where we could lock up bikes and a spa and pool for use with extra towels provided. We were given door and gate keys and we ate in town by the port (a small very basic restaurant on the lower level, served by a rather grumpy woman but possibly the best confit I have ever eaten. Breakfast was traditional with local jam and our hosts were obviously naturally keen to ensure that we had everything we wanted, so great service and attention to detail.

We stumbled upon this when traveling with essentially no plans in the South of France. We drove into Colombieres to see a sign welcoming us to the B&B! Evelyn and Pierre-Claude welcomed us like family. Our room was perfect for my wife and 12-year-old daughter and I. The stay was quiet, warm, peaceful and in a beautiful location. I could not believe waking up to the smell of freshly baked Croissant (just for us!), omelet, but most importantly the amazing hosts who helped us plan some of the most memorable activities we had on our trip. Our hosts pointed us towards some gems that did not appear in our guidebooks (the market at Pezenas, the amazing Medieval Bastien town of Minerve). I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Dear Piper, Julie & Christopher, thanks a lot for your nice comments, really, it has been a great pleasure to welcome oversea guests from Michigan, along the Canal du Midi. We think of you every morning at (our) breakfast in opening the Piper 's honey buttle. See you. Kiss from Languedoc . Evelyne & Pierre Claude

You will not make a mistake to book here and explore the surrounding area. Stayed 4 nights, but wish it could be longer. Excellent balance between hospitality and professionalism. Great breakfast and hosts. Attention to detail. We loved this place.

We crossed the streets of Colombiers a few times to find La Colombiere, but this was due to our tiredness from cycling all day, since it is easy to find by road and also gives on to the canal with a back entrance wich is great for cyclists. The reception was very welcoming, the room really nice and homely, with magazines and games, a bottle of water and all the needed bathroom utilities. The swimming pool, with saltwater, is great and there is also a jacuzzi. Breakfast was delicious and homemade. We want to mention especially the nice garden and Evelynes wonderful kitchen and herb garden, and the help Pierre Claude gave us with our bicycles.
Pity we got a flat tire only half an hour later!

We turned up quite late in the afternoon and were fortunate to get a lovely room. Had intended to stay only one night but ended up staying longer - mainly because the location was so nice and the hosts - Pierre Claude and Evelyne - were so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was something else with homebaked pastries and homemade jams! We also watched the rugby final between Toulouse and Toulon with the family which was fun - given our natural interest in rugby as New Zealanders. All in all we couldn't fault it and highly recommend this Chambre D'hote.

Room Tip: All rooms were good with nice views and good light and very quiet
