Nonza is a very small town hanging to the mountainside around a lone tower. The beach below is strikingly beautiful. The color of black is apparently due to residue from the asbestos mining operation at the north end of the beach. We were told that swimming was not permitted. The beach is some 525 feet below. Enterprising walkers there spell out messages with white rocks, lending a quirky feel to the place. The town is very picturesque and there is a pleasant little church to visit. Plan to stop there and take a cup of espresso in the town center, sitting outside. The tower, on a pinnacle is open free, but you cannot go to the top. Inside is a nice gift shop and the area around it provides spectacular views. When we were there, they were just finishing a very interesting looking restaurant. I look forward to seeing a review of it.
