“A shining beacon in a delightful Cotswolds village”

I have visited this pub many times and never had a bad experience, it's always wonderful. The atmosphere is fantastic and staff always helpful. The menu is constantly changed and improved and nothing lingers for too long (except staples like burgers and steaks, which every pub needs) Obviously made better by the local and homegrown produce and the passion you can feel from the owners. When I see the reviews saying it's overpriced, I challenge those reviewers to go down the road to the Seven Tuns, which charges the same for luke warm, packaged food with no panache. A brilliant time, everytime.

“Excellent choice for Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

We ate here last Sunday for lunch and were all really impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Also a very nice wine list to choose from. Staff were very helpful and the new Manager was a delight!
Will definately be returning soon!

“Such an attractive setting but a pretentious menu that was off-putting!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

We go out with friends for lunch on a regular basis, exploring the Cotswolds and seeking out good restaurants on the way.

Unable to locate anything in Fairford that would meet our expectation, the postman recommended The Swan in Southrop just down the road.

We found the menus to be pretentious and over-priced but had already ordered our drinks by that time. However, sitting at a table in the sun on the Village Green provided a peaceful interlude, apart from the wasps, but the tables and benches were not really suitable for dining, let alone drinks, as the Village Green had a definite camber. It is rather odd that the pub uses the Village Green as its garden but then the only other outdoor seating is on the other side of the pub and not really desirable as the tables are close together and slap up against the road.

We weren't the only visitors who had intended to stop for lunch, before perusing the menu after having ordered drinks. We all left at the same time with the lame excuse that we had decided not to eat. We were ravenous but the lunch menu was a pretentious turn-off!

We can't rate the food but the owners seemed pleasant and welcoming and the interior of the pub was attractive.

Maybe, try a bit of pretention in the form of an evening meal one day? Who knows?
