I dont really understand why so many people rave about this Chambres d'hote. There is nothing wrong with it, but aside from the setting which you can appreciate only from the outside, it's nothing special.
The guest accomodation is set apart from the main house in an attached annexe. The communal kitchen through which one walks to get to the accomodation on the upper floor is handy for making tea/coffee but gives a vibe of the hostel rather than a posh B&B. The room we stayed in was relatively small but my main moan was that though there were 2 side-by-side showers, the emphasis on stylish fittings meant that there was nowhere to put your personal toiletries, razor, tooth brushes etc so they ended up on the floor. And, when sitting in the kitchen, I could hear my partner flush the toilet. Hardly classy.
Breakfast was of a perfectly acceptable standard but, again, did not rise above what one could expect in far cheaper accomodation.
The hostess was polite and friendly but she never introduced herself or shook our hands which is a courtesy commonly extended.
So, all in all, a pleasant enough stopover that sufficed for one night but the romantic experiences other reviewers have reported certainly eluded us.
