Was attracted to online images of the rooms. These were the beachfront suites. We wanted that West Indian feel with old ceiling fans, dark wood, pineapples and the sound of the waves. When we got there it was exactly as pictured. The Ericksson retro art posters sealed it.

It was a quiet week and got lots of reading in. Did not know they had a fabulous reading room (must do next time).

Friendship is a nice beach but has waves. Not too rough but not for lazy bathing. Hotel did not disappoint with offered day trip to sister restaurant at Princess Margaret Bay.

Aside from the charm, the staff were just a joy to be around. I saw them enjoying what they do, really engaging you. Treat them well with respect and your stay will even that more a trip to paradise.

A real benefit of staying there was the relationship with the Grenadine House. Check in and check out times hopping over from the main island was no headache once you stayed between these two.

Some pointers. First, while the dinner menu varies from night to night and great taste, it is pricey. Consider heading to the port if you want more choice. Taxis are easy to arrange at the front desk. Second, if you are a couple try asking for a two seater couch instead of the two arm chairs. Third, try picking up snacks and a few bottles of wine in port. The nights are fabulous to relax, don’t waste it. Fourth, if you are a cat person walk with an extra brush. The resident cats won’t mind.

The hotel is beautifully situated on a super walking beach with lovely, well-maintained grounds complete with accessible, lite at night, pathways to all parts of the property. Along with the two pools, non-motorized water sports, a good gym, Yoga - offered twice weekly, volleyball net and bocce court you never need to go off the property for exercise. But, if you want a swim in calmer waters the daily shuttle to Princess Margaret Beach and Jakes Bar gives you the best of both. Do go with the morning shuttle to secure a chaise and umbrella.
The rooms are clean, nicely appointed, comfortable beds and each has a spacious balcony or terrace with both a padded chaise and rocking chair. Mosquito netting is provided as well as room spray and repellent.
All the staff are well trained and professionally friendly. Requests were quickly responded to, with one exception for assistance to fix a noisy air conditioner which bizarrely took several attempts over several days.
Front desk staff are available to offer suggestions for tours and arrangements and reservations happily made.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. The food and menu choice at the main restaurant Bagatelle was at times five star and others not. At all times though the quality of the ingredients was good-especially the fish! A basic oil/vinegar dressing should be offered with salads. They could tin the callaloo soup and make a fortune. The theme nights gave the chef the opportunity to offer different choices. The wine list was sufficiently varied and the bar well stocked.
The Italian restaurant was a disappointment. To begin with smokers are allowed to lounge at the entrance of this open restaurant and the smoke carries into the dining area on the wind. The lobster ravioli didn't have much lobster and the over cooked rubbery fish was not appreciated. The highlight was a spoon of olive oil and balsamic vinegar for the lettuce leaves. No espresso as the machine was broken. A Bialetti or two might come in handy. Might be better to focus on the main restaurant or let it out to a qualified 3rd party to run.
The esthetician services at the Spa are top notch.
While such a small island doesn't have much in the way of music the hotel does its best to bring in live entertainment. The youth pannists at Sunday lunch were great.
The rooms do have iPod stations and thankfully no TVs making a stay here a quiet retreat from the rat race.
You need to be aware that the hotel is not Non-Smoking despite the way the hotel bills itself. Luckily I didn't have any neighbouring guests who were smokers but if I had this would have really put a damper on my experience.
It is hard to say what I enjoyed most because the whole overall experience was highly enjoyable and worth repeating.

Room tip: Classic room at the top of the hill is the best but if accessibility is an issue ask for a ground floor room.

Bequia Beach Hotel is a beautiful and welcoming retreat on the beautiful island of Bequia. The accommodations are luxurious, yet set in a relaxing and welcoming environment. The people that staff the hotel are some of the most kind and gracious people you will meet, you are always greeted with a kind word and offer to assist you in making your stay the best possible experience. This was our second trip to the Bequia Beach Hotel, with many more to come.

Room tip: Most rooms offer an extraordinary ocean view, beach front rooms are particularly stunning.

Although we weren't staying here we used it as our "HQ". Great restaurant, bar and dance area with the most friendly staff imaginable, special mention to Candy, Peter & Eddie & restaurant manager Emmanuel. Everyone we spoke to, who were hotel guests, enthused about it and friends of ours have stayed and loved it too!

This is a well-run comfortable hotel in a lovely beach setting. The staff are friendly and professional. I would also like to emphasize that smoking is not an issue here at all despite a crabby review from a person from Colorado. The restaurant tables are a distance from the bar. The location on the island is one of the best as it is only 10 minutes to town. Some of the rooms are set a ways up so keep that in mind. I loved the pizza at the Blue Tropics Cafe. You can’t go wrong here

Room tip: Standard rooms are high up.
