So many people had recommended this hotel on the lovely, un-spoilt island of Bequia and we finally got round to visiting. We had a beach room on the ground floor which meant that we could walk straight down to the beach for a refreshing swim. Lovely view of garden, beach and Mustique in the distance.

Delicious food both at the Bagatelle restaurant right on the beach and at the Blue Tropic which is higher up with lovely views. BBQ night with dancing under the stars and then the lobster night both not to be missed. The island is small and our regular taxi driver, Jenson, was always there when we wanted him either for a tour of the island or to take us out to lunch or to Port Elizabeth for a visit by ferry to nearly St. Vincent.

There were some staffing issues both in the standard of service in Bagatelle on some days and in making up the room but these did not spoil what was a very enjoyable visit.

What a beautiful hotel and setting as well as as a lovely unspoilt island
A great welcome and lovely room - almost with our own private swimming pool. All the staff are really good, nothing is to much trouble.
Food: Breakfast - Continental plus. You can order extras at a cost
Lunch - good menu and fine
Dinner - disappointing - became same same as the week progressed and some of the ingredient choices really did not go together - the sat night lobster barbecue night was something else - a full spider lobster on your plate - looked impressive but was a turn off for some

All in all a great stay in a beautiful hotel with lovely people - we love it

Review on hotel page as can't find a seperate one for the Blue Tropic restaurant.

We had really lovely three course meal here last week. Nearly cancelled as there were tremendous rain showers all afternoon and early evening and wasn't sure I could be bothered to go out, so glad we did.
Can recommend the lobster lasagne and melt in the mouth beef starters. My main of stuffed chicken breast and gnocchi was very tasty and my husband really enjoyed his seafood linguine. The tiramisu was good but not excellent. Portion size is small but three courses make a meal.
Service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Pleasant atmosphere
The cost matched the surroundings, as expected. We will be back.
Musnt forget the helpful security guard, after parking we couldn't see where to go, it was very dark in spite of lights around the footpaths and damp, he kindly showed us all the way up the steps to the restaurant. Great service.

There is little to criticise about Bequia Beach Hotel. We stayed there for three days for the Bequia music festival.

I cannot disagree with the other reviews here. The staff and very good, and the accommodation is of high quality.

But it is not necessarily my top choice (even though it is possible we might visit again). This is all about preferences... I prefer something smaller and perhaps less of a resort. The restaurant food is excellent though I would prefer more local dishes - the predominance is Italian. (There are excellent restaurants nearby and in Port Elizabeth).

It's really about what you want. For most people - as the reviews show - this is an excellent choice.

We stayed for a week. We had excellent dinners each night and were in easy access to get to Port Elizabeth beaches at lunchtime. Helpful staff. A highlight was a blues festival over the weekend some of which was in the grounds of the hotel with very performers.

Room tip: We like the Ocean View Suites with good view and back from the beachfront.
