Not for high maintenance people that need dotting, but that's not what the island is about. Great for self sufficient traveler with a well equipped kitchette. Very comfortable bed with stylish Carribean decor. We stayed in room #1 and it had a fabulous view and ocean breeze. Never once turned on the AC and slept with the shutters open all night. Most memorable experience was swimming in the pool at night with the bats swooping down to get a drink of water. Most thoughtful experience was our room decorated with flowers from the garden on our wedding day! Big thank you to the staff for making our trip fantastic!

Nice room, including internet and cable tv and a/c. The best part is the view from the kitchen where you can see the friendship bay and is in a short walk distance (5 min) to the beach. Perfect location if you want to relax .There is a nice restaurant in the hotel next to suggarapple.

The buses are really cheap and they are passing by all the time.

On the downsides, the beach is not a big thing and there is only one small store to buy food around the area. However being such as small island this should not be an issue.

We spent a weekend at Sugarapple Inn and had one of the nicest vacations we have ever had. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who made you feel like you were old friends, and the kept checking to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Our room was just the right balance of Caribbean living with touches of conveniences that you MIGHT need... AC, Cable TV, DVD player to mention a few. B-u-t with the beach within walking distances(just down the garden slope), a well- kept pool on site, breezes blowing through your louvred patio and everything just a few minutes car ride away, you probably won't use them much.
If you prefer to do your own cooking, the kitchen is equipped with the amenities and all you have to do is take a short trip to town to get some supplies if you didn't bring your own. Depending on the time of year, you might have some mosquitoes at night, but rooms have nets and repellents ready for you if you need them. The patio overlooks beautiful scenery and the sea, so you might even be tempted to just sleep there and enjoy the breezes and tranquility. If not, you will have one of the best night's sleep ever in the comfortable beds. Our family enjoyed the pool, going down to the beach, sightseeing ( nothing is too far away), finding local places to eat and just relaxing in what felt like home away from home.
If you are looking for the run of the mill luxury resort accomodation rather than a peaceful, simple, personal and home-like place with the amenities, then Sugarapple Inn may not be the place for you. If you are disabled or elderly you may have some trouble navigating the steps around the property, otherwise you will fall in love with this place.
Our family will defintely go back to Sugarapple Inn if we have another Bequia vacation.

We liked the Location because local transportation to and from the Harbour is readily available.
The rooms were clean with adequate utensils and comfortable bed.
The days were hot but the AC kept the room comfortable,The mosquito net kept the few mosquitoes out so we had a restful sleep.
The short walk down to Friendship Bay and swim gave us the exercise we liked to start our day.
We enjoyed picking up mangoes as fresh fruits before breakfast on our way back from the beach.
The staff was very friendly and courteous we were so contented with everything that we returned and spent another week.
We would recommend Sugar Apple Inn to anyone who is contemplating a stay in Bequai

We just returned from a 10 day vacation to the beautiful Grenadine island of Bequia. From the moment we arrived to the sad moment that we left the SugarApple Inn, we were treated like visiting friends, not just a guest. Cilla and Ronelle, in the office, will take care of your every need, from calling taxis (Franklin is always available) to making restaurant reservations. Our rooms were kept immaculate by Cici and Sandra...little touches like a fresh flower on the bed was nice. I had tears in my eyes when we left.....What a beautiful spot. It is very quiet here, if you are looking for night life you won't find it here. The nice covered deck was a relief from the sun after we had been out in it for too long and were suffering burns. Also loved the little pool for a quick dip or for a change from going to the beach. There are BBQ'a available, however we did not use them, but others did. The Inn is a short 5 minute walk to the Friendship Beach. Just go down the hill and follow the path to the Bagatelle Resort next door, then you will see their beach signs. Easy.

The rooms are outfitted with beach chairs that convert to a back pack for easy carrying. Also, you will have a flashlight for those late night walks along the beach to the neighbouring restaurant The Mosquito Bar. We were also given a cell phone to use, which came in handy when we were done for the day at the beach or after finishing our dinner in town. Each room is also equipped with a safe.

Our first two nights we stayed in room 4. It has two double beds and the room is painted a pretty baby blue. It is located in the upper building, next to the office. Good wifi service here.

For the rest of our trip, we stayed above room 4 in room 1. This room has a king size bed, and an amazing view of the property and you can see all the way down to Friendship Bay. This room is painted a bright yellow. Very Caribbean! Good wifi here as well.

My favourite thing about the rooms is the kitchen area. Every morning, i woke up and opened all the shutters and enjoyed my breakfast. Some nights we slept with all the shutters open and just enjoyed the warm trade winds. Bliss! The kitchen had everything we needed. Although we never cooked any meals here, we did have b'fast and lunch here many times.

Bequia is a small island. You can reach the other side of it, Lower bay and Princess Margaret Beach area, by foot in about 30 minutes if you don't mind the heat. We mostly took taxis, but also rented a car for the last week that we were there.

Great local food! We splurged and ate most of our dinners out. We don't have one single complaint about the restaurants here. Must try: Blue Tropic at the Bagatelle Resort, The Mosquito Bar at the Friendship Bay Resort, Fernando's Hideaway, Tante Pearls, Da Reef at Lower Bay, Jack's Bar at Princess Margaret Beach, Frangiapanni Hotel's Saturday breakfast buffet, and the restaurant at the Gingerbread.

Feel free to contact me for more details.

Our 1st time to the Grenadines, we were pleasantly introduced to: 1)- a people of warmth and integrity, people who willingly share with "diverse foreigners" the delights of their homeland; 2)- a way of life that beckons relaxation; 3)- relative ease in figuring out how to get around the small island; 4)- the delights of vacationing in a place void of Big, 'Generic' resorts- actually getting a feel for local color (a big plus for us -- one must be open to accepting that this means it's not always quiet. Nor did we EVER have to deal with obnoxious drunkenness nor rowdiness). Respect and pride run high all around. As for Sugarapple itself, we can't say enough kudos for the staff - ALL of them bent over to make sure we had what we needed - from good information to a can-opener that we could work! Accommodations were basic, but we wouldn't have needed one more thing At All. VERY clean and attractive. Felt like we were living outside the whole 2 wks, yet also felt protected from the intensity of the sun. It was very dry when we went this year (unusually so), so I imagine the mosquito nets at night would be essential. We had very few bugs of any sort the whole time. We did enjoy the a/c - but was needed only for sleeping. The views may make it look like you're rather far from the beach, but it's truly only a short 3-minute walk. We walked over to Lower Bay and Port frequently, finding it refreshing to soak up the beauty on foot, but the buses were welcome reprieve sometimes, too. They come by very frequently, so walking is not essential. Even walking at night posed No Problems for us whatsoever. One must be able to tolerate hills if you walk - steep all over the island, so good walking shoes are smart (my Reef sandals were fine actually. Or tennies). We didn't even get to north of island - this time. Couldn't stop enjoying where we were, and found that to be more than satisfying for our 1st visit. It will not be our last. Our gratitude to Celia, Rainal, Sandra, and Cici for 'giving us a piece of Bequia'...
