Description: Bequia Beach Hotel's main restaurant 'Bagatelle' is located right on the stunning Friendship Beach with the 'Bequia Beach Bar' just a few feet away. Offering sweeping views, Bagatelle's open beachside verandas are a favourite amongst guests, whether dining for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The restaurant offers an internationally inspired menu with classic Caribbean influences and dishes, the international & local Chefs strive to make full use of locally sourced produce within St Vincent & the Grenadines. Freshly caught seafood is delivered several times a week right on the beach by Bequia's local fishermen.

Bequia Beach Hotel's Bagatelle Restaurant is undoubtedly the best on the island and it's unlikely that any other hotelier would disagree. It's setting right on the beach is dramatic - the surf thunders away up the beach a few yards away from a sparkling Caribbean, yet it still retains a cosy feel in the evening should a stiff easterly wind blow up making it necessary to drop the tarp/blinds. The menu (a little more restricted this year, we found and more 'international' than before) is very good, offering everything from steaks to Lobster (when in season of course) to the ubiquitous mahi mahi - all perfectly prepared, cooked and served. In three years I've not been able to fault any of these areas. Because of the time of year we visit Bequia (May/June) and it being the quiet season one often finds oneself dining virtually in solitary splendor but this never mars the experience. Although not at the economy end of the market Bagatelle still offers value for money.

Beautiful setting and good food. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate here on our first night in Bequia. We had just checked in to the Sugarapple Inn at 5:30. It was a long day having started at 3:30 AM. We were tired and hungry and needed something close and quick. My research indicated this might be the spot. It was! Just a short walk from the Sugarapple and we had a seat right on the water before the sunset. It was so relaxing. I had Mahi Mahi and my wife had a steak. Both were very good. We did the BBQ night, and the lobster night (twice). The lobster was cooked on the grill in its shell, basted in butter. It was juicy and tender, cooked perfectly both nights. We left our last night up in the air but spent the day on the beach and checked the menu. Shrimp tempura was the first thing listed, so that took care of that. All meals were to our liking, and every night they served what I called a "mystery" appetizer. All good! I think we gave it a good try with 5 visits. We will return.

We stayed at the Bequia Beach Hotel for 10 days and ate breakfast at the Bagatelle 9 days, lunch 6 days and dinner 5 days.

The breakfasts are very good with plenty of fresh fruit.

At lunch we generally ate salads and wraps and they were all very good with fresh cooked tuna being excellent.

All the dinners were very good with one exception, the barbecue.

Mostly we ate fish based main courses and the bouillabaisse, lobster ravioli, lobster bisque, and barbecued lobster (for example) were all excellent.

The wines are well priced and reasonable quality.

Service is friendly and enthusiastic.

For the barbecue the salads were good but there were no potatoes or pasta. So we got cold chips. The ribs seemed stale and tough and the beef was perfectly cooked rare, but stone cold.
Having said that, some fellow guests rated the barbecue one of the best meals they had, maybe they ate the fish ?

Friends wanted to do the barbecue, so we went along. Sorry we did. The starter consisted of two rubber potato chips with a cream cheese topping so salty it had no other taste. The salads were good at the buffet. The cristophene was excellent. Stop there. The beef was overly salted, had barbecue sauce - who puts tomato barbecue sauce on beef? - was overcooked and overall not good. The ribs were sweet and merely okay, no flavor at all. The fish was very good. You had to go back several times, though, because the servers were stingy with the portions. Good exercise, I guess. The wait staff was confused throughout. The drink order went to all the wrong people, and some of the drinks did not arrive until the meal was almost done. Some of us never got a drink. The total bill was $110 each. Way overpriced for very little value.

Right on the water of Friendship Bay, Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This restaurant is associated with the classy Bequia Beach Hotel. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. Service was friendly and prompt. They daily specials for soup, fish, and a main course. You look out over the Grenadines, with several small islands around Bequia, and a view of Canouan to the south.
