“Rugged beauty, laid-back luxury & leisurely lunches in Lower Largo retreat”
Reviewed November 5, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

A stunning and striking house in the quiet and picturesque coastal village of Lower Largo in Fife. The property has been renovated to the very highest standards, was clean, airy and homely with many thoughtful touches such as luxury toiletries provided for visitors, children's fishing nets for family rambles along the beach, lunch boxes for picnics, soft, fluffy towels, DVDs, games and a plethora of useful information on where to go for days out, meals etc.
Brigend House felt like a home-from-home the moment we walked through the front door. It was warm, cosy and inviting with great views over the harbour and across to the Firth of Forth.
Villagers were friendly and chatty and while Bridgend House has no internet access and mobile reception was sporadic, the nearby Crusoe Hotel was happy to allow us to piggy back on their wi-fi. Having said that, it was a real treat for a week not to be a slave to the laptop and mobile.
Lower Largo is within easy reach of the rest of East Neuk with its stunning sea views, long windswept beaches, hills and attractive coastal towns such as St Andrews, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Crail as well as Dundee.
Even in late October/early November there was plenty to do and when the weather turned foul we had a beautiful house to return to.
We can't recommend Bridgend House highly enough. Without doubt it is the best self catering home we have stayed in with an impressive attention to detail aimed at making your stay as pleasurable as possible. It's ideal for families, couples and friends - indeed anyone looking for a get-away-from-it-all retreat that doesn't skimp on the mod-cons.
My only quibble? We couldn't stay on for another week!

“Aged 6 to 90 - a great place to stay!”
Reviewed October 9, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Bridgend House is beautifully appointed with every amenity you may require supplied to a very high standard.
The owners go out of their way to make sure you have a wealth of information before your visit to allow you to plan the stay to your best advantage. Maggie even phoned us during the weekend to make sure everything was ok - a high level of customer care that was much appreciated as our party ages ranged from our grandaughter at 6 to father at 90!
Lower Largo is a lovely clean, friendly village with surprisingly good local amenities.
Plenty of places to see and visit with excellent restaurants all around.

“A lovely house in a quiet and picturesque setting”
Reviewed October 9, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We had a good week playing golf at several of the local courses. It was a pleasure to return to such a warm and comfortable house. We ate out some evenings at nearby Hotels and sometimes cooked for ourselves in the beautifully equipped kitchen. We wanted for nothing.
Lunches were purchased from Elie deli and the local farm shop provided everything we needed for evening meals. We would love to go back and experience it all again!

“A perfect holiday home for every age.”
Reviewed September 12, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We all had a wonderful holiday in this very spacious luxury abode. Its in a beautiful part of Scotland with the perfect location of being nestled in beside the harbour. Wonderful to sit in the garden in the evening, sipping a glass of wine and taking in the beautiful seaside air. Bridgend house is an ideal holiday home for families and friends of all ages. Cant wait to go back soon!

“So fabulous I want to live here permanently!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Bridgend Cottage. From the minute we opened the front door we instantly relaxed. What a beautiful house! This is not like a holiday home - it's like walking into the home of your most stylish friend who has a great eye for detail and the knack of creating a homely atmosphere. It was truly lovely.

The views are lovely : I had been worried that we would be close to the road but the location was perfect. A very short walk and right on the beach.

Our children are 5 and 9 and, thanks to Maggie's book of recommended things to do, we found loads of things to keep them occupied. Even the variable Scottish weather didn't stop us from having a great time. We would particularly recommend Cairney Fruit Farm which was superb; Cluny Clays was also really good. To eat there are loads of great options, especially around St Andrews - The Glass House, The Doll's House and of course, Pizza Express are great for kids.

We packed the wellies in one box, flip flops in the other and we were on the beach whatever the weather.

Best of all though, was coming 'home' to Bridgend Cottage. It really was wonderful; we spent our second week in a lodge in Pitlochry which was practical and nice...but not a patch on Bridgend. We will DEFINITELY be back; so good I would like to move in permanently. :-)

“Immaculate and Comfortable House for exploring the East Neuk”
Reviewed July 18, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 5 and 2. We all relaxed very easily in this splendid and spacious house. It is well appointed, had everything we needed, even nets for rock pooling! The utility room with side door entrance is perfect after the sandy/muddy days out! Very comfortable with reclining sofa's and we all slept peacefully! The local and surrounding area information (includes many helpful recommendations) provided is perfect for getting the most from your stay.

“Bridgend House the perfect spot”
Reviewed July 12, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Having seen pictures beforehand on internet our expectations were high,we were not let down, the property is immaculate,
Plenty of space in comfortable surroundings bed rooms, kitchen bathrooms all very high quality,
A really comyfy bed, all this and a pub and restaurant right next door.
Being elderly, we had to take extra care on the stairs.
A perfect location for touring Fife.
