“UI Inn great place to stay in transit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

I stayed here for two nights in March 2013. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They arranged for my scuba diving trips and even the transportation to the boat. Breakfast was very simple but adequate. Rooms are air conditioned which is really nice in the very humid outside temperatures. If I came back to the Maldives I would stay here. A little different than staying in the hustle and bustle of Male. An easy 10 minute ride from the airport. Someone was waiting right at the airport exit with a UI Inn sign. There is a little construction going on nearby but it is not too bad. There is intact a lot of newer buildings going up on hulhumale since the man made island is only a few years old.

We stayed seven nights in the Maldives for $295US. I would find it difficult to come up with anything to complain about given that when we travel, we usually choose to spend money on our activities/excursions rather than our accommodation, and this trip was no different.
The UI Inn is one step above a hostel. I say that only to ensure there are no unrealistic expectations of the facilities. But, having said that, I would recommend it as a value-for-money place to stay in the Maldives, which is NOT a budget destination.
The property was clean, quiet, and well-situated. The staff are almost like ghosts - they come and go very quietly, but seem to appear just when we needed them. The rooms are small, clean, and utilitarian. (The most luxurious thing in the room was the flat screen TV) The bathrooms are private (at least ours was). Guests came and went with a minimum of fuss, and as is usual in such places, everyone was friendly and willing to talk.
The room was cleaned every other day, unless we asked, and then it was cleaned immediately. Extra towels and an extra pillow were provided without question, and the hotel also gave us 'beach towels' to take with us on excursions. Breakfast was included with the room, and the food was simple but good.
The hotel bicycle was willingly offered to my husband so he could accompany me on my morning runs, and when the staff became familiar with our comings and goings, they anticipated our needs, which was delightful. In fact, it is the staff that make the UI Inn quite lovely - from the women behind the desk, to the men cooking and cleaning, they were sweet.

Downside? The bed was very, very hard and the staff had no way to address this. We ended up walking over to the local hardware store and buying a camping foam ($20US) which made the difference between staying at the UI Inn or having to find other accommodation.
The front desk does not keep change for either dollars or ruffiyaa, the local currency. Save yourself some inconvenience, and get small denominations at the airport. You can also pay with a credit card, but we generally don't do that, hence the issue with making change. No big deal.

Would I recommend the UI Inn?
Yes.
You really do get what you pay for, and if luxury is what you're hoping for, this is not it. If budget accommodation is the goal, then the UI Inn is perfect.

As a first visit to Maldives we didnt know what to really expect but overall the visit as been amazing. Staying on a local island rather than a resort showed great culture and a chance to mingle with the very friendly and pleasant people. The UI Inn has great staff very friendly and helpful always smiling and at your service to there best ability. Staying here has been good economically and great cultural experience but another plus is that you can take a Ferry into the Male City for just 6 roofies.. or take a jetski ride 20min to the amazing Paradise Island. Overall an amazing stay! Hope to come back soon!

Room Tip: Clean room with clean bed and shower is all u need..The fun is outside and in the water!

me and my colleague in a group with 26 person should be stay in UI inn hotel and Mavilla Inn however we moved to another Hotel which are Transit Beach View in 1 night. The view was amazing and good view from our rooms, but no perfect, there was 1 rooms was not working the air condition. The best service which I have is the Managing Director Nasih.. He provided the best service hence we got the information vital about visit resort, sea plane and others activity which usefull for us for going forward. The dinner was also goods even a little bit late but the taste was so damn good and delicious.
The sad story only when our group visited the Banyan Tree resort but we didnt accompany from the hotel staff but its quite oke, but it had a bit misunderstanding between us and boatman but still manageable. We encougae others to have relationship with Nasih and I believe he will be able to help what you want. Thanks Nasih

It was a very good experience staying in Ul Inn especially the manager (Nasih). He had provided me lot of support. Would love to come again and will stay in this hotel. Also, would refer this hotel to my friends and relatives if they wish to come in Maldives. Thanks.

Room Tip: The staff was very friendly who had provided me lot of support.
