“Another very enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

Just back from another great week at the Telemark, our second in two years. What this chalet-hotel lacks in luxury, it makes up for in its warm welcome, delicious food and the amenability of its staff. It's located close to the piste, and the rooms are warm, clean and reasonably sized (though fairly basic and by no means huge). You don't get loads of 'extras' (there's no TV etc.), but they're comfortable, and on this type of holiday you're unlikely to be spending huge amounts of time indoors anyway. There's a cosy bar area where you can enjoy an après-ski drink, and in the restaurant guests can either have the set menu or choose an alternative from the full menu at a supplement. Chef Ashley and sous-chef Ross certainly know their food, and we found the meals to be consistently delicious (friends staying at a nearby chalet were suitably jealous when they ate with us in the restaurant one evening!). Without exception, the staff were friendly, helpful and eager to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Our pick-up and drop-off at Moutiers station went smoothly, and a daily drop-off at the bubble lift into Courchevel 1850 was arranged without any problems.

A minor downside is that the bathrooms are best described as 'bijou' (basic shower/sink/toilet, no bath) and we did find ourselves wondering how guests of a larger build would fit into the shower! Also, some of the ski equipment that can be hired from the hotel is somewhat worn and showing its age - could go with upgrading. Overall, though, the Telemark is a friendly and reliable option, offering excellent value for money. Fab snow, too!

We were a group of friends, self catering on the Christmas week in La Tania and had decided to eat on our last night out; if we had done earlier in the week we would probably have come here again or at least would have used the bar more. On initial inspection of the menu outside it seemed a little expensive but don't let this put you off. It is obviously a hotel restaurant with a set menu but it also has a terrific and varied a la carte. Pizzas through to fillet steak. As a group of 10 we tried most things and everyone, with the exception of one of the younger members who chose the 'kebab pizza', was delighted with the food. It had an English chef so the steaks were cooked according to the English rating, so medium rare was indeed medium rare - perfect. I had the lamb shank and it was truly delicious. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere good. We would definitely go again, and will do so, and would also possibly consider staying at the hotel too. Not situated on the slopes so having a drink apres ski would be enjoyable but not as crazy as other places in the village, you might even get a seat...! Haing said that perfectly placed for the slopes... just a few steps from our ski in-ski out preferred option. We also arrived just on the close of 'happy hour' and they happily gave us the first round at those prices. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you.

The first trip at the Telemark was this back in Feb. A group of four guys stayed in the hotel for a long weekend. It was perfect, rooms were clean and quite big in comparison to other accommodation I have stayed in. The location is second to none, the snow was great, ski in, ski out all week. The food at the hotel was the best I have had for a long time, the standard meals were tasty but it was nice to be able to upgrade to a steak or two also.
I have to say the staff made our stay. Nothing was to much trouble, skis, boots, ski passes and travel was all sorted for us. Katie, Ashley and the team made us feel at home, so much that I booked a weeks holiday with the family for the end of March. Once again we had a faultless holiday, the in house nannies even looked after the kids and sorted our lessons with new generation (fantastic).

We have booked for next year, I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and it's staff.

Room Tip: The family rooms are excellent for a family of four or groups of guys.

We returned for the 5th time to the Telemark in March for a long weekend skiing in the 3 valleys. La Tania is a great base for access to the 3 valleys, it's compact but there's enough night life in the evenings and the Telemark is spot on for value, location and friendliness. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate and clean, food was great and the wine included with our meal kept flowing. This year they have added little touches such as the free flowing wine with dinner and an option to upgrade to the a la carte menu but only once did any of the 5 of us feel the need to stray 'off piste' from the standard menu so no complaints! Katie and the staff were great and did everything they could to make the trip run smoothly - lift passes were organised, ski hire & fitting sorted out on arrival at our convenience & the boot warmers worked! - will definitely return again on our next trip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed in Hotel Telemark for the second time and once again found it a perfect spot to enjoy some super ski-ing. We were on a weekend break and everything was arranged for us to pick up when we arrived - ski hire, lift passes, etc - so we could maximise the time on the slopes. The hotel has a fantastic location, just a minute walk from the slopes of La Tania.
We took half board option with complementary wine and the food was excellent. The staff are extremely helpful and freindly.
I would definitely stop here again when ski-ing in the three valleys.

Room Tip: Our room had five beds, including a double bed on a mezzanin, making this an excellent option for a...

We were so lucky to have found this great little hotel in La Tania run by a team with a real 'can-do' attitude. Everyone including the owners - Julie and Tony - could not have been more helpful with our requirements around dietary needs and the accommodation itself. Fabulous food which was wheat, meat and dairy free ( see photos) - provided by an upbeat, knowledgeable and fun team including Scottish Katie, Ashley, Ross, ( these two guys really know food) Lisa, Stu, Greg and Sam. Special thanks to Manager Katie for her healing hands when I damaged my calf. She got me back out on the slopes after Tony had so kindly played ambulance man 36 hours prior. A great benefit to staying here is the convenience of having John onsite who provided our equipment and tech expertise, meaning we could just leave our hire stuff on site at the end of our holiday. It really is 3 mins walk to the piste, and less than 2 mins to ski down to the La Tania cabine. Good hotel bar with draught Youngs ( has to be keg due to altitude) and busy restaurant with outside diners from other hotels and chalets. And for the apres ski, just 10 mins stroll to the centre of the resort. All our transfers, equipment, lift passes, and ski lessons were organised in advance. (Ask for Sam at Ultimate Snow Sports - great instructor ) What's not to like? So good we are already planning our return - hopefully before the end of the season.

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies, and showers ( not baths)

This is the second time I have taken a group (13) for a 4 days skiing break at the Telemark. From a value perspective I think it's right up there and the versatility of the rooms make it ideal for groups with every changing numbers. That said, I almost took my wife to the Telemark a week earlier, and another two members of my group made enquiries about returning with there families so this should tell you I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Telemark for a group, couple or family!

Sure the food is very English in nature but to be honest it was pretty darn good and kept a bunch of hungry blokes happy for the second year running. I'm also confident that even my kids would eat most (if not all) of what was served to us. Another plus is that the staff are not stingy with the wine either :-))

The hotel is literally a minutes stroll from the piste making it easy at the start and end of the day. It also has it's own ski/board rental and fitting room which made changes/adjustments fast, convienient and easy.

As reported in many other of the reviews the hotel is fairly basic but perfectly adequate and clean. The staff and management are very accommodating and will do what they can to help you get the most out of your break....big thanks to Katie for making sure everything went smoothly and anther big thanks to 'Scottish' Katie for keeping us entertained :-)
