Friendly staff who were generous with the tapas and served lovely pizzas. Good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Even outside next to road this was quiet but buzzing with customers. Very popular, and understandably so.

This bar is in a tiny village and your most likely reason for eating here is if you are staying in one of the local B&Bs and don't want to drive. This is a very rural part of the world (with many village houses boarded up) so the bar owes its survival clearly in large part to the tourist trade. That said, it strikes a decent balance in terms of decor (village antiques, film posters etc) and clearly gets in a proportion of locals, at least for drinks (and watching footie on TV). Tables spill onto the local 'street' - a dead-end to another tiny village. The food is very respectable - we went several times and sampled good gambas al aji, and standard main courses (eg pez espada) as well as the 'famous' pizza. While the latter was certainly tasty, it ranks primarily for the amount of molten cheese and chorizo it's possible to pile onto a (fairly solid) base, rather than quality of cooking - but you'll be glad of it if you've been out hiking all day. Service and atmosphere varied from comatose to brisk and friendly on the different days we were there but overall its a pretty good option for the locale.

This is a busy bar in the quiet village of mecina. It is possible to sit outside. You are then on the 'main' road, but as this only goes to one other village there is not a lot of traffic.
If you want a memorable meal go to l'Atelier just up the steps to the left of here. If you want a really good pizza this is the place.
You thought pizzas were something to do with Italy? Well it seems that they migrated to Argentina and have now come back across the Atlantic to Mecina, improving all the time! the coulee who own the restaurant are one Argentinian and one German. The pizzas we had were magnificent and as we had asked for 'grande' we also had to ask for a doggy-bag to take some home, despite arriving hungry from a day's walking.
The staff are very friendly and hepful. When we ate there the bar was I suspect busier than usual becasue the Bar Aljibe in Mecinilla a few hundred metres away was closed for building work, but that didn't stop them giving good service. The ambience is good, with good views across the valley.
Recommended.

We visit here quite a lot as we live about 1/2 hour's drive away. Every time we go, the food is excellent, I've never tried anything but the pizzas as they are sooo good! The staff are friendly, efficient and the last time we went it was my birthday and they gave us a bottle of cava! Sitting outside in the spring or autumn is the best, the temperature is perfect and theview across the valley is great. Highly recommended.
