My sister and I have just returned from a 5 night break on the Scillies. Schooners is a great hotel to stay at. We were fortunate enough to book one of the sea view rooms and what a view - over the harbour, quayside and town beach. Always something to watch! The room was warm and comfortable albeit a little small! The location is superb - just off the main road of Hugh Town, close to the shops and only 5 minutes walk to the quay for boat trips. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice and freshly cooked food. Very reasonably priced meals are available every evening except Sunday, with a good variety of food. The staff were wonderful - very helpful and friendly. They even managed to let us have the same room when we were delayed for one night by the awful weather, described by a previous guest! The lounge at the top of the hotel has wonderful views, a coffee machine and free Internet access, and the bar downstairs has the same view and access to the beach. This is our hotel of choice on St Mary's and can highly recommend it.

We have just got back from a week on Scilly. We booked ourselves into the Garrison Campsite and had a great few days there, however the wicked westerly winds picked up to winds between 60 & 75 mph! We therefore wanted to get out of there and asked for recommendations from other campers, one family highly recommended Schooners.

From the start the staff could not have been more accommodating. The Scillonian was not sailing and they had their family room available, my wife had a look and was sold. The receptionist (who was amazing) let my wife and 2 1/2 year old stay whilst I set off back to camp to "pack up".

The room was very spacious and was appropriately decorated. Across from our room was an amazing lounge with the the best views of St Mary's quayside and the Town's beach. In the lounge which was very comfortable, had a very good coffee machine, lovely homemade furniture and free Internet access.

Breakfast was lovely with lots of options available. The downstairs bar has the best views of any bar on the island.

We are now considering staying here in future as oppossed to camping.

Try this place and you WILL love it.

Room Tip: Room 14 great for two adults sharing a double bed and two singles also in the room. We got a great r...

We booked this hotel for a 3 night break because of its harbour location. Our expectations of the accommodation (based on the 2 star rating) were massively exceeded. The panoramic views from the room were amazing, as they were from the top floor lounge. The inexpensive evening meals were so tasty, varied and beautifully presented that we didn't bother to look elsewhere to eat. I recommend dining there on your first night. It's a really warm and friendly place - our needs were well met and on some occasions anticipated by the attentive staff.
Next time we come to the IOS we'll have no hestitation in returning to the Schooners,

Room Tip: Most rooms face the harbour, but some have wide panoramic windows. Take a look at the front of the h...

Lovely small hotel with simple, tasteful decor and furniture. I was delighted with my single romm with a sea view - rare for singles. The half-board option was a good choice as the dinners were imaginative, carefully prepared and presented as well as excellent value for money. Staff were welcoming and helpful, so it is a delightful place to stay.

This was our second stay at Schooners and, as last time, we were not disappointed. The situation of the hotel couldn't be bettered and the view from the room over the harbour was impressive. The room was comfortable and very clean and we had everything we could have wanted. Food was excellent - way beyond what would normally be expected from a hotel of this size. Our highest accolade though is reserved for the staff. The 2 girls dealing with "front of house" are both delightful and a credit to the hotel. They were friendly, helpful and approachable but efficient and competent. What a pleasure to stay in this hotel - as last year, it was the foundation for a perfect holiday. We will return.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view over the harbour
