Hello Helen & Tony,
Many thanks for your kind and complimentary review, which is much appreciated.

It was a pleasure to meet you both and glad you found everything to your liking, and so glad that your evenings entertainment went brilliant at the pub.

Youre room was left immaculate and very thoughtfully left everything nice and tidy, that was much appreciated.

Even though we have just met it really felt we had known you for ages - always so lovely to feel at ease with guests and be able to enjoy good friendly banter.

If youre passing by always feel you can drop on in and say hello - Thank you once again for your kind comments.
Best wishes & stay safe well & happy always.
P.S. Youre eggs were Lady Gaga's !

We are unable to stay at our favourite Guest House at the moment due to illness - we are devastated we so love everything about the Croft how could anyone not like it there We cannot wait to get back to see our dear friends Colin and Ken - well that is how we think of them they are so full of fun and welcoming -how glad we are to have found the Croft - it really is like going home every time we stay there and Ken's Breakfasts are something else - the Waiter is jolly good too with plenty of smiles to greet you in the morning what more could anyone ask for? The Location is excellent with plenty of places to visit - we fully recommend it - go on give it a try you won't regret it

Room Tip: Due to Disablement we have always had front downstairs room which is ideal

Many thanks for your much appreciated review "Girls"

Weve missed you around, but know that for health reasons that youve been unable to travel.

Our thoughts are always with you & soon as youre able to hop on over, we will be ready to welcome you both for some long overdue "Guest tales" & laughter.

I think a book may be on the cards for the various "Guest experiences weve had - Shame there isnt a Guest Advisor lol

Hope this response finds you both cheery and apart from the Guest House side of things, were there as friends for you always.

We stayed at the croft, whilst visiting family close by. The owners made use feel really welcome and relaxed when we arrived. They showed us to our room, a spacious dbl, very clean and great shower. The bed was really comfortable, and the room had all the necessities we needed. The owners were happy for us to stay without breakfast (as we were planning to eat at our families home).... and they were absolutely accommodating when at 9am we arrive in the dinning room for breakfast!! I had poached on toast, which was spot on, and by boyfriend had the full English and from the empty plate he had no complaints! We had a great stay and would recommend to anyone. The owners were genuinely friendly and really took their time to get to know us and make us feel at home. We plan to return soon for a speckled hen beer!

I stayed in this B/B whilst attending a funeral the following day.

I was recommended by The Anchor Inn. I checked in and was immediately asked to pay before I had even seen the room. No problem £56.00. When I saw the room I commented how cold the room was the manager said it would warm up after an hour. Well this never happened I literally slept with my clothes on in bed as it was so cold!! Then when I commented to the manager how cold I was in the morning he said I don't believe you! And said at 11 pm I should have asked him to bleed the pipes out the radiator or asked for another room. Absolute disgrace how they handled my complaint-I received so much verbal abuse I left without eating breakfast. Stay somewhere else and don't let these comments put you off Devon.

This American Guest rang from the pub asking for a room,as was attending a funeral the following day it was early evening and was invited to book in after he had finished his meal, no need to book in first, thinking this would save him from going to and fro.

Upon arrival he pushed past 2 guests that were at the entrance, then came to the bar where he was asked if he would like to see the room. At the bar he had a very Arrogant Ill Mannered and self opinionated, Demanding attitude. The guests that were sat in lounge were astounded at his rudeness, and commented on this.

He asked for a lager, and said Ill pay for this now and the room at the same time - He saw that the other guests were watching a programme on TV and commented why we didnt have the football match on, and said he would view in his own room.
He asked if we had wi-fi and was told how to connect, when he connected he threw his mobile on bed and said "Its all in French"

He came back down into the bar area - By this time we had turned the TV over to the football match, and he stood drinking and his attitude made the other guests feel uncomfortable.
He was told the bar would be open late - should he want another drink - and the bar closed at midnight.
The following morning he came storming into dining area saying he had been cold, followed by a barrage of insults and foul mouthed language, Constantly walking around and around dining room trying to cause a scene.

.When he was told that he could have contacted staff (As on room folder welcome paack) at ANYTIME,(Emergencies etc) and we would have, tried to sort any problems or change rooms if he wasnt happy - But no matter what was said he just kept on challenging staff and using absolutely foul language.Constantly commenting and not allowing a response to be made.

Eggs & Bacon were ordered and as staff were preparing a pot of tea, he left.

A very arrogant and Ill mannered person whom would NEVER be allowed back.

Anyone who knows us or yet to meet us will find that this review is PURE VINDICTIVE and an attempt to affect our business.
This has never happened ever in OUR HOME and was taken back with his attitude.

A very uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone until he had left.
Something that wont be taken seriously by decent genuine guests.

We visited Starcross and The Croft in August, 5 nights. The location was very good: you can easily walk/take a bus or train along The English Riviera or to the moors - Natural Park, beautiful! You can take train+bus to Dartmouth and a ship from there to Agatha Christie's Green Way. From Starcross you can take the early train in a decent time to Heathrow/London.
We really liked The Croft and Colin&Kenny. Colin is an expert making the rooms and catering look nice and making the guests feel themselves like friends. Kenny, too, and he makes good food - we appreciated the English breakfasts with fresh fruits! We got from them good tips, for instance about the pubs. In The Ship at Cockwood just 300 metres from The Croft, we saw every night that the feeling is even more cozy than in English TV-series. We warmly recommend The Croft to all who want to see real life in Devon.
