Have just returned from the most wonderful 2 day stay at Whitsand Bay Hotel. We went with friends and the 4 of us could not fault a single thing from the ambience of the hotel, the friendly and polite staff. The meals were sublime and so beautifully presented. We didn't use the indoor leisure facilities so cannot make a comment but we did have 2 rounds of golf, a tricky course and quite tiring but most enjoyable. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Bed linen and towels were luxury. All in all a fabulous time was had by the 4 of us. Thankyou to Groupon for sourcing this hotel and to the Phillips family for all their hard work in making guests so welcome and well fed and watered !!!!!

From the moment we approached we were impressed by the imposing building with a tower and the stunning location with a 180° sea view. As we entered we found a friendly bustling ambience with smiling people and the period wood panelling in the hall and lounge giving a warm and welcoming feel. In the staircase there is a beautiful large stained glass window. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and our sea view room had everything we needed; we particularly appreciated the two comfy easy chairs where we could relax with a cuppa and admire the view out to sea and along the coast as far as the Dodman and beyond. The pool, sauna and steam room are really good, clean and warm. The evening meal, which was the Bistro menu but offered in the main dining room, was excellent, with good choices and at £12.95 for two courses including coffee/tea in the lounge afterwards was excellent value for money. We enjoyed it and booked a table for our second evening rather than going elsewhere. Breakfast was excellent too.

It's an old building (interesting history in that it was moved stone by stone from another place in 1909 and opened as a hotel in 1910) and some areas need attention, especially the windows which are mostly single glazed and running with condensation, damaging the wood panelling and curtains in places. Our bathroom was outdated but functional and we noticed a few stains on the pale carpet in our room. However, the sheer charm, character and welcoming ambience more than makes up for this and, in any case, it's generally clean and that's important. Oh, I nearly forgot the resident pooch Emma often found lying on the floor in the large hall, I could never resist patting her when passing. It's a family run hotel and the owners are very much hands on, they and the staff really seem to care about their guests, the service is first class all round. We were there for a passing out parade at HMS Raleigh and during our stay in the hotel we were comfortable, warm, had good food and enjoyed relaxing both in our room and the lounge where there are lots of comfy squishy chairs and settees.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room, it's worth it!

Excellent value for money. Family run hotel right on the cliffs above the beach. Magnificent Cornish breakfast, large choice for lunch and evening meals. Friendly and helpful staff. Swiming pool, sauna, steam room & mini gym plus a golf course what more could you want.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must

The restaurant is overlooking the bay , with ample parking . all tables laid beautifully & you could sit in the lounge after your meal & have free tea & coffee. what more could you ask for ?

Thank you. Our lunch and evening dining Bistro offer has been really popular. We receive many compliments about our food. The supreme quality stems from our fantastic local Cornish suppliers. Cornwall offers some of the very best food produce available, and it’s all right on our doorstep. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

we spent two nights at this hotel
the inside has had a lot of money spent on it and is superb. the outside needs some works but in general the presentationh is very good
no lift which can cause problems with suitcases but the huge stain glass window on the stairs is magnificent.
we had room 1 which had windows overlooking the sea on two sides and this was warm and comfortable
there is a golf course which we did not use but the sports centre with steam room, sauna and swimming pool was delightful.
the foods was very good value and well presented

We have just returned from a 2 night break at this charming hotel. We had booked using a Groupon voucher so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find such a lovely hotel in such a super position. We paid a supplement to have a sea view {room 8} and it was well worth it as the views of the Bay and sea were fantastic. We chose to eat in on both nights and were impressed both with the quality and the value of the meals. There was a wide range of choices for each course. The breakfasts were excellent with all tastes being catered for. We were blessed with perfect weather for our stay and so we were able to explore the coastal paths. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and friendly. The pool, sauna and steam room were an added bonus. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room. No lift - so choose the first floor if you have mobility problems.
