Looking for somewhere to eat on a weekend up Yorkshire (not staying here though), we tried several pubs and they all said dogs wasn't allowed so we couldn't go in. Tried this one on the off chance and they said we could. The food was really good, cooked excellent. Steak was perfect, and steak pie was fab. Good friendly service. Would most certainly recommend.

Can't comment on the accomodation though as we only ate here

We saw this pub advertised in a Yorkshire magazine and thought we would try it. Unfortunately, we felt slightly let down. It wasn't very clean - the tablecloths were grubby. I would give the food 6/10 and was probably the worst meal we had during our stay in Yorkshire. However, the owner was friendly and funny and so we had have a laugh in the bar before and after the meal. I would recommend to call in for a drink rather than to eat.

Me and the miss's come here for the best sunday dinner in yorkshire, and dont miss out on the blackpudding starter, and then dont miss out on the excellent puds, and have a few local beers while your at it. Come to think about it you best book a room cause your gonna need a lie down afterwards.

Breakfasts were poor, evening meals were good, although we had to wait over an hour for our starter one evening.

Dropped in on Saturday 8th September after the Hunton Steam Gathering. Hungry and thirsty. Black Sheep shandy cured the thirst, and an omelette (with black pudding and onion as my choice) with a salad and chips sorted out my hunger - my wife had a "starter" black pudding and chicken salad and it was big enough to be a "main". Summer fruits pavlova to finish. A pleasant spot, and well worth adding to the list of "pubs to remember".
