“Relaxing treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

This was our second visit, our first 3 years ago - although we enjoyed it last time, the rooms were very tired so we didn't rush back The refurbishment is excellent. We stayed in a large classic room beautifully decorated in greys/greens, lovely seating area too. Good value for what we paid. Service was excellent from booking in to leaving. We had a problem with a delayed breakfast to our room but this was quickly resolved without drama and we were given a later checkout at no extra cost. The lounge was more relaxing to sit than the bar as this did seem to be lacking atmosphere. The hotel is lovely with all its little warrens to room...easy to get lost1

Room Tip: We stayed in room 35, very spacious and it overlooks a little courtyard which was pleasant.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Crabwall - it was great!

1. Staff looked after is really well.
2. Room was AMAZING!
3. Spa/Gym were adequate

Niggles:

1. If you NEED wifi you will struggle
2. Weird that the only option on laterooms was Room Only

We stayed at Crabwall Manor at Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was mentioned that the downstairs areas were to be refurbished, so we said that we would come back again when all this had taken place.

After recently returning to Crabwall we found that the redecoration had been fully completed we were certainly not disappointed. The lounge, bar and breakfast areas had all been sympathetically updated whilst still retaining the integrity of the Old Manor.

This time we stayed in a standard room – These standard rooms are much better than some of the superior rooms I have stayed in, in other hotel chains. Lovely big room, with seating area and huge bathroom, certainly no complaints here!

I have read with complete dismay some of the recent comments made by other travellers on how the reception staff were unhelpful. I don't know what those guests are used to but I cannot express how each receptionist who served us was cheerful, helpful and courteous – as I found all the hotel staff to be! I felt the service was on par to any 5 star hotel I have stayed in. I was fortunate to be served by Maggie again at breakfast (who actually remembered us from our previous stay!). She is a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was served hot and tasty with plenty of choice. We also had drinks in the bar and were served by a charming young man called Ryan.

This is a lovely hotel, well run, fantastic rooms and great staff, what more could you ask? I hope other travellers will not be put off by the negative comments that have been previously written. My advice would be go to Crabwall Manor and try it - I am sure you won't be disappointed. We will most certainly return no matter what the rate is.

We had the girls night in package - lunch with prosecco, dinner bed breakfast 2 x25 min treatments and use of the facilities on both days - superior room upgrade for £159 pp friendly and well appointed. Not top top notch but the spa area is clean & plenty of lockers, nice seating area but no quiet zone. Food very nice and a nice get away. Only critics is the lunch & hot breakfast took 45 mins to arrive on the table

Room Tip: I recommend a superior upgrade

I recently went to this hotel to attend a funeral for my friends father. It is such a beautiful hotel, the gardens are stunning and the building is so nostalgic. The food was great and plenty of it (loved the breaded mushrooms a bit too much!) The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us, even helping my Grandfather by getting his drinks for him from the bar! We just cannot thank everyone enough for looking after us in such a difficult time.. would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed at crabwall as friend was getting married at a near by golfclub and thought it would be a nice treat. We found the hotel quite lacking. We were giving poor directions to our room which was quite a labyrinth and took us ages therefore to find which was not ideal with stairs and carrying our bag.

When we got back from the wedding we had an awful nights sleep. Every door opened near by must have been a fire door as they made a huge bang when they closed. This sound kept us awake almost all night.

For the price we paid and the 4 star rating I expect much better. I would not return or recommend.
