Love our stay in Sofitel Paris La Defense. The hotel is based on the fiancial area, not far away from Triumphal Arch and musée du Louvre, about 20 euro by taxi. The perstigue suite was great, superior room was nice too. The nail polisher in the bath room was actually thoughful, the big window between bedroom and the bath room was interesting. Breakfast was good, dinner was fine, not particular keen on the dessert fruit salad. The receptionists were helpful, however, depends on who were there, check in might take a while. As a overall, Sofitel Paris La Defense is a great place to stay in Paris.

We just spent the Bank Holiday weekend staying at the Sofitel La Defense. We found the staff very accomodating and the free apples at Reception every morning were the largest apples we had ever seen! The rooms and beds were fantastically comfortable, as is well known for the Sofitel brand. The hotel is modern, calm and cosy- just as it says on the tin!

The hotel is nearest to the metro station- Esplanade de la defense and only a few minutes away from the metro and RER station La defense. If you walk out of the hotel towards the Grande Arche you will find a huge shopping centre and cinema. We ate here most of the time and found it quite inexpensive. You can find your usual McDonalds and French fast food version 'Quick' if you're in a hurry or more expensive coffee shops and eateries if you prefer. There is also a hypermarket where you can purchase anything and everything! We enjoyed buying french baguettes and a selection of cheeses and sitting on the steps of the Grande Arche and admiring the view of the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower! Being a business district meant that the area was busy in the weekdays and really quiet at the weekends (just the odd tourist wandering about). This was perfect for us, as we often choose hotels that are a stones throw from the action, yet quiet and peaceful when you are sleeping.

All in all, we had a fantastic time at this hotel and would go back there like a shot. It is highly recommended for a relaxed stay in a fantastic location only minutes away from the Champs Elysees.

We stayed here on a weekend package that included a junior suite, breakfast, a bottle of champagne per night, late checkout at 4 pm and free valet parking.
When we checked in, staff was very friendly and attentive. We were asked when we would like to have our bottle of champagne. And sure enough the first night we got it. The second night however, we didn't. When I mentioned this at checkout however, they got someone to bring down a bottle of champagne for us to take home to the reception. Also on the last day, our key card stopped working around noon, while we specifically told them we would be using the late checkout. The error was corrected immediately, but you would expect that they get it right the first time in a 5* hotel.
Breakfast was also a bit weird, with a nice selection of bread, cereals, fruits,... But the hot buffet was just scrambled eggs. One of the waiters was also a bit out of place and went as far as to gape at every female visitor in the place.
Our room was nice, very clean, had a nice bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The location is also OK, very close to a metro station, the RER stations is a bit further away. However you need to be aware this is a business district and if you come back from visiting paris in the weekend, the area is desolated, no shops, no restaurants and very little people around. Prices for the mini-bar were exuberant, ie.€ 6.20 for a coca-cola. It is as if they don't want you to use it.
When we got our car back, they had 'cleaned' our windshield and left some sweets.
So there you go, a nice business hotel with friendly staff, but it didn't 'wow' me at all.

Dear Jhamers, we are pleased to see that you have spent an enjoyable overall stay in our premises. Be assured that we have informed our Front Office Manager and our Restaurant Manager about your remarks on our service. Nevertheless, we regret the fact that you did not had the opportunity to fully experiment the uprising area of La Defense with the mall « Les quatre temps » which is only ten minutes away from the Hotel. Our aim is to lead you to a memorable experience. We therefore hope to welcome you back soon and exceed all your expectations.

Stayed at this hotel during a recent weekend break to Paris. The hotel seems to be very quiet at the weekend as it is in a predominantly business district. However, it is well located for a leisure stay as it is near both the metro and RER stations. It is also within walking distance of L'Arc de Triomphe. There are good amenities near the hotel including a large shopping centre and some nice modern architecture.

In my opinion this hotel's best asset is its outstanding staff who could not have been more friendly or helpful.

We booked this trip and got a deal for 2 nights which inc. bed and breakfast, free drink on arrival, late checkout (4pm), complimentary upgrade if available, 2 subway tickets per day and a suprise gift.
When we arrived we chatted with the guy at reception and he informed us the hotel was only 50% full. At this point we asked if it was possible to get the complimentart=y upgrade - he said we had been upgraded from a classic double to a superior double - however our booking clearly stated we had booked a superior double already and the price chart on the wall indicated a classic and superior double were the same price so we didnt really feel like we had been upgraded. Especially as a previous review said they had been upgraded to a junior suite - if there was none available thats fine but I didnt like them pretending they had upgraded us to a room we had already booked anyway! He gave us our keys and did not mention anything about our extras so we had to ask for our free drink, suprise gift (chocolate) and subway tickets which may us feel like scroungers even though we had paid for them. A 5* hotel should be organised enough to give these out without prompting.

On a positive note the room was nice, the rain shower lovely, beds very comfy, black out curtains and very quiet area - we slept right through til 10am both days! Breakfast was great and until 11am which was perfect for a lazy weekend. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The area was like a ghost town but we were aware of that at time of booking - there is nothing here to do at night so if ou enjoy hustle and bustle of a big city this is not for you! It is quick and easy to get to central Paris though.

It was a great stay just slightly tainted by our check in experience and the hopes we'd had for a complimentary upgrade seems as the hotel was only half full.

Would recommend o couples wanting a lazy weekend in Paris.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like Royalty. The staff were so friendly, helpful, pleasant and generous. The hotel was spotless and when we arrived we enjoyed complimentary French Deserts in our room. The bedroom was spacious, clean well equipped and the bed was divine. The hotel is in an excellent location and the metro is right outside the door - a 10 minute journey to the city centre. We would recommend anyone going to Paris to go here. A true 5 star gem!

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel La Defense for our Paris vacation. We booked this hotel online based on Trip Advisor recommendations and were not disappointed. It is located in the business district - a bit off the beaten path - but quiet, close to metro and shopping center. The service was exceptional and the rooms could not be better. We agree with other traveler reviews that the bed is the best we've ever slept in! We both travel around the world and this by far was our best overall experience.

The downside of this hotel is the lack of restaurants in the area. There's a great sushi place next door ("Sushis") but most everything is closed on the weekend and past normal business hours. The Champs Elysses is just a short ride down the tracks and offers many nice eateries, high-end shopping and a view of the Arc de Triomphe. Vestuvo is a nice Italian place with good atmosphere and an amazing banana split!

For visits to the Tour de Effiel, you may want to consider getting there between 8-8:30am. Take the stairs to the first and second levels for just $4.50 (Euro) for adults. There are a number of cafes in the area that are reasonably priced and have wonderful views.

Versailles is a must-see but be prepared for 45-50 minute commute with train and metro transfers. Buy tickets ahead of time for the Palace and avoid a 1+ hour wait. Be prepared to have your personal space violated as you go through. The murals and ornate features of the tour are worth your patience. Beware of pickpockers here.

Notre-Dame is nice; busy and a long line to get into the cathedral, however, the quaint layout of the streets, cafes and youth make it a fun people-watching spot. Enjoy a cafe on the streetside or hit the Starbucks on the corner near the metro.

A word of advice - learn a little French. There are key words that will help you along the way. For example, "merci beacoup" will earn you a smile anywhere.
